November 4, 2013Late in the first quarter of Sunday’s win over the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland quarterback Jason Campbell was hurt when DT Haloti Ngata fell on his back. Campbell had the ball under him and left the game for a short time due to sore ribs.
Campbell had an x-ray on the ribs immediately following the game, but the results weren’t disclosed last night.
Today, CBS Sports insider Jason LaCanfora tweets that Campbell has bruised ribs and hopes to be ready to go when the Browns play again in two weeks against the Bengals.

Bruised ribs are no joke. Anecdotally, I’ve played with both broken ribs and bruised ribs, and the bruised ribs hurt much worse – but the healing time was also shorter.
Hope he’s okay, because he’s like Obi Wan Kenobi. #OurOnlyHope
Ditto with the bruised ribs. We didn’t have rib pads, so they taped a thigh pad over my ribs. Not the best fit, but better than nothing.
It hurt like heck whenever I coughed or laughed. So naturally my buddies kept cracking jokes at my expense so they could watch the tears stream down my face as I was laughing.
Good times.
Exactly my experience! They found one of those old time QB flack jackets – nothing more than a grey cotton vest with some pads sewn in it (so old time, it was “olde tyme”). It hung loose on me, so they had to tape it really tight around my chest; so tight that, if I could have breathed to begin with, I sure couldn’t breathe afterward. Made running routes all night very fun, indeed.
And yes, I think we had the same friends. I still hate those guys.
These guys have a personal bravery I cannot imagine. I thought Campbell’s short throws right after he returned looked off from the hit, and he did an awkward give-up slide on a scramble like he was trying to avoid another 300 lb. flying pancake. But he stood in there and made some great plays in the fourth quarter knowing the Ravens knew his ribs were sore.
Help me Obi Wan Kenobi. You’re our only hope. Repeat repeat repeat
Overheard near Weeden’s locker: “So, you’re sayin’ there’s a chance…”
Wow thanks Lacanfora, this story already broke last night
