Twitter reacts to Brandon Weeden’s horrific interception

What was the sports world thinking when Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden “threw” this history-bound pass? WFNY has you covered, and it may or may not have been just as one would expect. It’s safe to say that Cleveland and NFL Twitter alike saw a considerable spike in activity…

Not sure if anyone could see it on TV… but my seats are right at the goal line we were attacking… and Josh Gordon didn’t have anyone within 20 yards of him streaking up the middle calling for the ball. Throw it anywhere near him and it’s a TD.

  • Hopwin

On his intentional grounding pass you could see Benjamin come open 20 yards downfield up the middle about 2 seconds before Bweeden chucked it.

  • Kevin Huyghe

    We gotta use Trav more.

  • Kevin Huyghe

Yep and Gordon actually took his helmet off and slammed it on the ground in frustration. Guy is such a special talent we have to get somebody to get the damn ball to him.

  • mgbode

just tell him to stop dropping the ball when he does get a wide-open huge gainer thrown to him (not in the top10 problems currently facing the team, but it’s getting frustrating with him too).

  • mgbode

sadly, this isn’t the “historic” pass that many are claiming it to be. we’ve seen it before from other QBs. it may highlight why Weeden is a bad QB, but he’s a bad QB for many more reasons than it.

and, for anyone keeping track, here is the worst “pass” in NFL history:

  • The_Matt_Of_Akron

Hmmm, tough one. Didn’t result in a change of possession vs. went Backwards.

Did you see Roethlisberger’s pass that bounced off of not one, but two helmets?

  • mgbode

he threw the ball 25yds backwards causing a fumble. the fact that NO got the ball back was pure luck and does not excuse the decision IMO.

I am sure there are other candidates as well (Tebow alone could fill a lowlight film of bad passes).

  • The_Real_Shamrock

Clearly Cory Ross doesn’t know his NFL history because anyone who does knows that award will forever belong to Garry Yepremian.

  • The_Real_Shamrock

No way Yepremian’s pass or attempted pass was in a Super Bowl loss that makes it now and forever the worst pass in NFL history.

  • mgbode

it was a kicker though. not sure that should really count. it would be like putting some of Tebow’s worst throws up here. Sure, they were NFL pass attempts, but it wasn’t a real QB throwing them.

  • Shadow_play

But it wasn’t a Super Bowl loss. The Dolphins won Super Bowl VII.

Also according to Wikipedia “In his first game his coach told him that their team had lost the coin toss, at which point Yepremian ran to midfield and dropped to his knees looking for the coin.” can this be true?

All good, but this was my favorite tweet:

    Awful Announcing

I’ve seen zombies in The Walking Dead act smarter than what Brandon Weeden just did.

  • The_Real_Shamrock

You are right Miami won that game teaches me for rushing with a response.

  • Henry Brown

Ugh no wonder Gordon was in such a bad mood after the game.

  • Cory ross

This is Cory Ross… And now that I think about it Yepremian’s pass probably beats Weeden’s. But Yepremian was a kicker, and even though that pass was horrendous, he is still a kicker. It’s not his job. Weeden is a first round quarterback, payed millions to make throws. That is why, despite Yepremian’s throw being the worst ever, Weeden is much more pathetic.

  • Natedawg86

I don’t know what would have been worse, that throw, or handing the ball to the D.

  • Natedawg86

At this point, I don’t know if Weeden > Tebow

  • The_Real_Shamrock

You did not say “worst pass by a QB” in your Tweety message you said “worst pass in NFL history” besides I don’t believe this is the real Cory. Please provide your address, phone number and place of employment for authentication.

well thats what happens when you make all of your passing reads BEFORE the snap
