NFL News: Browns QB Brian Hoyer has successful ACL surgery

The Browns let the media know today that Brian Hoyer’s ACL surgery went well and as expected today. The quarterback that momentarily electrified the Cleveland Browns fan base is expected to make a full recovery.

The Browns, of course, will be happy to have Hoyer back in the second year of the two-year deal that he signed with the Browns this off-season. Exactly who else will join him on the Browns’ QB depth chart by the time Hoyer is ready to play football again is anybody’s guess.

Brandon Weeden will continue to start for the Browns for the foreseeable future. There’s also little doubt that Browns fans will be peppered with the rising and falling stocks of every college quarterback that projects to go anywhere near the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft.

    Put him in now

Thinking about what kind of season the Browns could have had with Hoyer makes me sad.

He did look so good in those first 2 games. Would have that lasted? Or did defenses just not have enough tape on him? Ideally he starts next year with our first round QB waiting for him to regress….

why – you expect Browns football to be enjoyable, something you look forward to? Happiness is all about expectations, friend. Keep ’em low and the game has a better chance of providing entertainment. Try this: Weeden’s the right height, can really sling that ball, is studying film with Greg Little every day and … and ….zzzffffffffffffttttttttttttttt

Ur so negative it’s Friday, the Red Sox are a win away from the World Series and I’m having a great hair day! That’s the trifecta baby.

Teams didn’t have tape on a lot of past Browns starting QBs and none of them looked close to as good as Hoyer. I’m sure teams would adapt, but then it’s on him and the coaching staff to react to the adaption and so on and so forth.

    I like his chances.

Agree. Wasn’t even about winning. Just being excited. I cannot express how depressed watching, talking, and thinking about Weeden is.

Hoyer should be the starter next year and let the rookie draft pick QB hold a clipboard. Campbell can still be the serviceable backup. No need to ruin the rookie like Brady Quinn et al were. Sayonara Brandon Weeden!

    I’d take that.
