Chud: “This is a new time and a new team. Anything else is just noise.”

On Monday, Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski spoke to the media about the team’s opening game against the Dolphins.

In context, he was being asked about the players’ mentality given the history of losing opening day games and the seasons that seemed to slip away following them.

“This is a new time and a new team,” said Chudzinski of his 0-1 record. Anything else is just noise out there.”

For fans of the team, the “noise” he refers to are thoughts about the team being the same old Browns. A win in week two against the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens would go a long way towards quieting that noise.

Baltimore lost in Denver on Thursday night 49-27. Peyton Manning shredded the Ravens’ secondary for seven touchdowns and 462 yards passing.

Prove it, Chud. Sure looked the same team on Sunday, down to the curious coaching decisions.

Is it too early for me to buy my Cleveland Browns Terry Bridgewater jersey?

  • The_Real_Shamrock

I’d rather have a Teddy Bridgewater jersey myself! 😉

  • The_Real_Shamrock

And the same coach speak after! The noise Chud hears is either the one he listened to in his headset all game or the train which has left the station with the words, “You are next” on it!

    Touche on my error

  • FearTheRoo

The Browns aren’t smart enough to draft Teddy Bridgewater. They’ll get confused and draft a guy named Terry Bridgewater by accident.

  • The_Real_Shamrock

Touch your error? Hang on a minute now!

I hate stupid media questions like that.

If you walked into a new job and someone asked you, “Hey, are you really nervous to start today? The guy you replaced was fired because he was bad,” you would laugh in their face.

It’s a stupid question designed only to illicit an answer people can criticise.

Did anyone else see Bruce Drennan’s intro last night on ABAO on STO? I was cracking up the poor guy.

This response is much more modulated than “I’m telling you, this is NOT business as usual.” But give it time, wait til Chud’s in his 8th consecutive presser with the radio talk guys asking him stupid things.

As if your current Browns – young guys, guys who never gave two thoughts to this team before they got here, 8 UFAs who just walked in – are steeped in recent Browns history. You could convince most of them that this version of the Browns used to be the old Houston Colt 45s.

I get that coaches have to keep up morale and that they can’t publicly rip individual players. However, it’s only the first Monday of the year and I’m already sick of hearing about all the positives we can take from this game and what a great, wonderful, terrific, fantastic learning experience it was.

Ya know I’ve never played Zelda, ever, well there was once this girl in Buffalo but that’s another story.

  • The_Real_Shamrock

On now c’mon you know a more plausible scenario is them either being one of two teams interested in trading for the #1 only to have the team holding the #1 trade with the other team. Or they’ll be on the clock and have time expire before the next team selects.

  • Hopwin

I hear we battled. Does anyone know if we showed flashes? Maybe progressed?

  • Roosevelt

    This comment is perfect.

  • Roosevelt

    So, so true.

I think it’s too early to beat up on the new coach. It’s not exactly a unique phenomenon that a new coach lost his first game ever. On the other hand, I am tired of how much money it costs to watch what appears to be the same mediocre product with flaws so obvious, people who have never coached before can spot them.

It’s sort of a damned if you do/damned if you don’t situation for Chud. It’s way to early for the media to start going after him, though. Banner and Lombardi, though…fair game.
