The Diff: Reviewing stats on the surprising 2013 Indians
September 25, 2013Debating Chris Perez’s closer role – Cleveland Indians Roundtable
September 25, 2013The legend of Spencer Lanning continues.
Cleveland Browns punter Spencer Lanning was named the AFC special teams player of the week on Wednesday.
“In a 31-27 victory at Minnesota Sunday, Lanning booted five punts with a net average of 46.8 yards, with a career-long 56-yarder and two punts inside the 20-yard line. In addition to his punting duties, Lanning completed an 11-yard touchdown pass on a fake field goal to tight end Jordan Cameron. After an injury to kicker Billy Cundiff, Lanning also kicked the team’s extra point with 51 seconds remaining to give the Browns a four-point advantage.
He became the first NFL player with a punt, PAT and a touchdown pass in a game since Sam Baker (Philadelphia) on Oct. 13, 1968. He is also the first Browns punter to throw a touchdown pass since Brian Hansen in 1991 (Week 7).
Lanning is the first Browns player to win AFC Special Teams Player of the Week since Travis Benjamin in Week 14 in 2012, and the first Browns punter to win the award since Reggie Hodges in Week 13 in 2010.”
Not a shabby week for a punter.

Is he going to kick FGs this week?
Well deserved. Solid punting numbers, held well, had an extra point, and a TD pass. That is the most well deserved POTW so far
Cundiff didn’t practice today so it’s looking like Lanning will be kicking and punting again on Sunday.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat what could go wrong? On the bright side if he kicks a successful FG maybe Banner can cut Cundiff and save some more money!
Hopefully just PATs
Now’s the time to capitalize and grab a first round pick for him in a trade!!
