August 28, 2013It didn’t take long for Cleveland Browns receiving cast-off Jordan Norwood to find a home. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have added Norwood to their roster. It is presumed that Norwood’s returner skills also helped drive the Buccaneers to give the veteran a look.
I think the Bucs just want to take a look at Norwood to see if he can help as a backup. The Bucs are set with starters Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams. Eric Page seems to have a roster spot as a return man and a receiver.
Norwood was always one of the underdog fan favorites in Cleveland. In two seasons he only played in 16 games catching 36 passes for just over 400 yards, but on what has historically been a receiver-starved team, it was thought Norwood’s sure hands could be a part of the solution. Ultimately his inability to stay healthy kept him from making the impact that Browns fans hoped he would make.
Still, down the stretch of a dismal 2011 season, Norwood caught enough passes that gave Browns fans hope that he could be the possession receiver. Now it’s off to Tampa to figure out if he can do those things for the Buccaneers.
