NFL News: Cleveland Browns make final cuts

In order to reach the NFL-mandated 53-man roster limit the Cleveland Browns on Saturday terminated the contract of K Shayne Graham, placed WR Josh Gordon on Reserve/Suspended by NFL and waived the following 13 players:

OL Aaron Adams

DB Akeem Auguste

K Brandon Bogotay

LB Justin Cole

RB Jamaine Cook

DL Hall Davis

WR Tori Gurley

LB James-Michael Johnson

WR David Nelson

WR Naaman Roosevelt

DL Brian Sanford

DB Jamoris Slaughter

LB Justin Staples

After 12 noon ET Sunday, clubs may establish a practice squad of eight players by signing free agents who do not have an accrued season of free-agency credit or who were on the 46-player active list for less than nine regular-season games during their only accrued season(s). A player cannot participate on the practice squad for more than three seasons.

By cutting Bogotay and terminating Shayne Graham’s contract, the Browns currently do not have a kicker on the roster. Look for them to pick up a kicker from the waiver wire.

Jamoris Slaughter was the team’s sixth round draft pick. Undrafted free agent Josh Aubrey was kept over him.

Soooo,we now have no kicker. I assume this has something to do with Bannermetrics.

Well, neither one was very good, so it probably makes sense to find a different one.

They should have paid Phil! While I would welcome getting more TD’s and less field goals…having a kicker that is almost perfect was a good thing and worth the money. Class guy too.

Big strong kid, give him a try at running back,Trent
out there alone isn’t going to cut it!!

He gets hurt, then what–as it stands do they run him
30-40 times a game? If he can’t run from exhaustion
does the defense just kill Weedon???
