WFNY Roundtable: Talking Cavs and the 2013 NBA Draft
June 27, 2013BroHio: Hoping Nick Swisher can get back on track, and soon
June 27, 2013Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Cleveland Cavaliers have narrowed their choice to centers Alex Len and Nerlens Noel.
The Cavaliers are choosing between Nerlens Noel and Alex Len at No. 1. If they pick Len, Noel could drop to Suns at No. 5.

While players like Otto Porter, Victor Oladipo, Ben McLemore and Anthony Bennett have all had their time in the sun as the rumor du jour for the Cavs, Len and Noel have been the most consistent two names mentioned for Cleveland since they won the draft lottery.
Conversely, ESPN’s Chad Ford thinks that the Cavaliers could end up trading whoever they pick at #1.
“The Cavs’ top option is to trade the No. 1 overall pick for a combination of a veteran plus a 2014 lottery pick,” writes Ford. “If they can pull that off, they’ll move the pick. If they can’t, they’ll keep attempting to move whoever they draft until all their options have been exercised. In other words, don’t assume that they are keeping who they draft at No. 1.”

Gilbert is in too much of a rush for us to do this right…
what about the last 3 years indicates that he’s in a rush?
Saw one beat writer citing the fact that Gilbert follows Oladipo on Twitter as proof that the Cavs are taking him #1 overall.
Really can’t wait until all these rumors can finally turn into reality.
He may be personally monitoring his character/maturity
Brooklyn is $15M over the luxury tax threshold.
That’s being in a rush and not doing it right.
You need to change “open” to “hopin” in the title!
Absolutely nothin’…I’ll say it again…absolutely nothin’!
Trade baby, trade!!
you’re being played, Woj. Grant doesn’t pace fretfully until a few hours before draft day. If he doesn’t know which who he wants he can’t evaluate trade possibilities.
Didn’t they make the playoffs too?
if first round playoff elimination is your goal and you dont mind being 27M-over-the-cap handcuffed … then mission accomplished.
Hey I know it’s not a 25 win season but still. As far as the cap goes for me that makes no difference the Cavaliers get zero points or wins for being financially responsible.
Trust in Grant.
that affects if they can get better in the future though. shouldn’t that matter too?
Of course but you can’t consistently look to the future otherwise you miss the here and now. It’s really time for the Cavaliers to get their heads out of the stars and to start establishing something concrete. Victories on the court would be nice.
Tonight will go a long way in determining now as well as the future. Lets see what happens.
No other choice.
the cavs cap space is what has them in the pierce and marion convos. or if kanick’s wish comes true, lopez.
grant’s not looking to save money here on salary. lombardi/banner on the other hand…
Just read on SI.com that the Nets are in hot pursuit of Pierce and Garnett from the C’s.
I doubt the Cavaliers get Pierce maybe on Marion. Milwaukee has eyes set on 13 as well supposedly for a shot at the Russian shooter the Cavs reportedly liked.
given the cavs record in signing FAs and given the number of teams over cap it’s hard to see to grant _not_ making a salary-eating deal w picks going out and a vet coming in.
as for a the bkln-bos deal, that’d be quite the cap massage if it happens. bkln is 30-ish million over the cap and pierce+garnett = 27m of cap this year. i don’t know enough to say it can’t be done.. but damn.. i dont see how it can happen. at least not without joe johnson going to boston.
I’m still hoping the Cavaliers can assist whichever Texas team wishes to chase Dwight Howard more. If it’s Dallas and they want to move that #13 for the two seconds or even Houston with Robinson for #19.
The Nets-Celtics talks were Pierce/Garnett for a package that would include Gerald Wallace, Tornike Shengelia, the expiring deal of Kris Humphries and three future
first-round picks.
not sure how that deal really helps the Celtics. Picks likely in the 20s + taking on Gerald Wallace’s contract? Sad times for them if that’s the going rate on Pierce + Garnett
It wouldn’t other then the Cavaliers favorite of expiring contracts. But we’re not talking about the Celtics we’d be talking about my new favorite team the BROOKlyn Nets!
Big Pimpin’ on B.L.A.D.’s!!!!!
that’s MY team, too!! next time you’re in town, we’re going to a game!
Cmon Cavs, go and get Lopez.
LoL I don’t really have a team I mean I pull for Boston and Cleveland but that’s as close as I get. I am a Brook Lopez fan though. Oh and Beyonce!
