Cavs will not rule out surgery for Dion Waiters

April 15, 2013Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson says that he may always have to deal with lingering pain due to last season’s rib injury.
Buried in this weekend’s mailbag from The Plain Dealer’s Mary Kay Cabot, it appears that the rib injury which cost Richardson some explosiveness in 2012—the rookie sustained broken ribs in Week 6—may always be an issue. Richardson, last year’s third-overall pick, says that he may have to deal with pain throughout his career, but remains confident in his effectiveness. Cabot added that Richardson will be 100 percent for training camp this season and will not have to shoulder as much of the load as he did under Pat Shurmur a season ago.
“[New Browns head coach Rob] Chudzinski stressed that Richardson won’t have to carry the load by himself this year,” said Cabot. “The club will change it up with Montario Hardesty, Chris Ogbonnaya and now newcomer Dion Lewis.”
The 21-year old carried the ball 267 times in 2012, tallying 950 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was also heavily featured in the passing game, hauling in 51 passes for 367 yards and a touchdown.

Sandbagging. Love it.
“Hey you big, mean Steewers and Wavens, I’m a wittle hurt. I pwobably won’t be able to pway weally well anymore. No need to wowwy about wittle me.”

I don’t believe it either. Maybe it’s not sandbagging, maybe he’s worried that it’s not totally gone yet and wants fans to understand if he’s not as explosive as expected. But it’s ribs, and presumably the med staff employed at the pleasure of the new owner would have pulled him last year if they thought there could be lasting damage to the team’s investment.
I have a lingering concern that Trent is being a weenie the more I hear him talk about his ribs.
With the new rule change, opponents should have plenty of opportunities to hit him there.
The pain in Richardson’s ribs may always be an issue that must be dealt with throughout his career, yet he’ll be 100% for training camp? Hmmm…
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm ribs!

Pain in the ribs doesn’t necessarily mean he is less than full go. I separated my ribs in MMA a few years ago. I still can’t lie on my right side on hard surfaces. The pain doesn’t mean that I’m physically restrained from anything. T-Rich will be fine. All ball players live with pain.
Hopefully, Trent becomes a “lingering pain in the ribs” to the rest of the division.
haha weenie!
First what the hell are we keeping marecic for & quit making a big deal about Richardson’s ribs he will be perfectly fine I’ve had cracked ribs on one side & the next yr torn cartilage on the other side & both healed great
