April 9, 2013Several reports indicate the Browns have reached an agreement with free agent WR David Nelson.
Former Bills WR David Nelson reached agreement on a one-year deal with the Cleveland Browns.

“Nelson made the Bills in 2010 as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Florida, after enjoying a successful senior season as one of Tim Tebow’s top targets in helping the Gators win the national championship.
At 6-foot-5 and 204 pounds, Nelson became a dependable contributor during his first two seasons with a combined 92 catches for 1,011 yards and eight touchdowns. Last year, his season ended in the opener with a torn right knee ligament.
Nelson had surgery shortly after being hurt and anticipates he’ll be ready for the start of training camp this year.” [Fox Sports]
David Nelson has the size you love to see in a WR at 6’5″ 214 pounds. In 32 games as a pro he has 94 catches for 1042 yards and 8 touchdowns. Nelson joins Greg Little, Josh Gordon, Travis Benjamin, Josh Cooper and Jordan Norwood as the only wide outs on currently on the roster.

I hope he brings his Dallas Cowboy girlfriend/fiancee/wife cheerleader with him!

I’m a huge fan of all these one year deals. Make these free agents earn their next contract.
I like this pickup. not the veteran no 1 receiver we were hoping for but Nelson was a solid contributor for the Bills and is a definite upgrade from Little and Massaquoi. he’s still young at age 26 and with just a 1 yr deal, the risk is minimal. looks like the browns are looking to flood the field with capable receivers to both overwhelm defenses and maximize the number of targets for Weeden/Campbell. I still wish we would have landed one of the stud TEs this offseason. turner loves his TEs in his offenses…
When can we buy Super Bowl tickets?
I like this move. low risk with a one year deal and high reward. hopefully he becomes our joe j. from 07 that can help move the chains.
so we traded MoMass and his concussion issues for Nelson and his ACL. I’ll take an ACL recovery over concussion recovery any day. Especially when the new player is also younger, taller, and has had better hands.
Net gain.
We’re going to have the largest WR corps in the league. (220, 225, 214…)
We don’t need no steenking TE.
And the “Norv Turner loves huge WRs” trend continues….
Hopefully it continues with Danario Alexander. But seriously, how has no team even attempted to sign him away? There are a ton of teams with more cap space than San Diego who could out bid any Chargers deal, and there’s no draft pick tender since he was an undrafted free agent? If I was Lombardi Danario Alexander would already be in Berea
