Banner Report: Wide Receivers/Tight Ends
March 12, 2013Pestano: “No bad blood” with Indians front office
March 12, 2013According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, and several other ‘reports’ that may of course just be jumping on Wilson’s coattails, the Cleveland Browns are close to having a deal with one of the top free agents on the market this year.
Sources say Browns are closing in on their target: Ravens pass rushing outside linebacker Paul Kruger. Nothing official yet of course
— Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) March 12, 2013
Of course nothing official yet. Teams cannot sign free agents until 4pm today. They have been able to discuss terms with agents since midnight Friday, but were not permitted to speak with the players themselves, meet with the players or have a deal completed awaiting the deadline.
Then there is this from the NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala:
Here in Cleveland, where Browns have $47 million in cap space and where one agent just texted me, "(GM) Mike Lombardi is busy!" #freeagency
— Aditi Kinkhabwala (@AKinkhabwala) March 12, 2013
So there you go, Browns fans. Cleveland is certainly active on the first official day of free agency.

Gotta like that, we are very close to having a really good defense. Does anyone think this changes our draft strategy if it goes through? I wonder who’d they be eying now.. Especially if we snatched someone like Avril too.
Trade down with Minnesota for 23,25 and 2nd round pick
When is the last time a Raven defender left to do great things elsewhere? I trust Newsome a whole lot more than Lombardi. We shall see.
I would like to think we would still draft a young pass rusher. Even if the need isn’t as high anymore, taking a guy with a very high ceiling but, who needs time to develop would be an ideal situation for me. Now let me go watch some more of Ziggy Ansah outrunning running backs…
& then…….?
“Mike Lombardi is busy!”
I feel like Johnny Ringo when he realized it was Doc showing up for the duel, and not Wyatt. This…this could end badly.
“NO AND THEN!”
I love when everyone drops the “high ceiling” and “floor” comments. Everyone is an analyst these days. Where does this in-depth knowledge come from?
I can’t envision both Kruger and Avril being brought in but hey, we can dream. I prefer Avril myself but we’ll see what happens.
As I stated above I seriously doubt both Kruger and Avril are signed as free agents and I doubt even more that if so the #6 overall draft pick is another OLB/DE hybrid. That makes no sense for a team that has as many needs as the Cleveland Browns. The only thing worse would be drafting a QB, IMO.
Then we get down and boogie
Long snapper.
Please don’t overspend for Kruger. Give him a massive signing bonus and a reasonable contract, cuz we need to fill other holes as well
Would it be possible to draft cheerleaders then we can finally be a respected football team.
USC or Oregon naturally…
& then we rock down to Electric Ave?
Not necessarily disagreeing with you, but also when was the last time the Ravens were so handcuffed by the cap and having to re-sign their franchise QB to a huge deal that prevented them from locking up their key defensive talent? Two sides to this particular coin.
I’ll take anything – anything – but cheerleaders. The day we get cheerleaders is the day I go root for Buffalo.
And then we wang chung tonight.
for the amount we may be paying Kruger, he better be able to handle that as well.
Are you buffalo-ing me?
I hope it signals our firm resolve to never kick.
No buffalo.
what about opponents’ groins?
Then we take ya higher!
You’re starting to get how Cleveland operates the front office!
I don’t believe Ndonkeykong Suh is a free agent . . .
I generally agree, but have you seen the Oregon cheerleaders?
What could possibly be wrong with pretty girls with pom pos?
Oh, I’m ALL about colleges having cheerleaders. Indeed, they sometimes even “lead cheers.” The Browns should now, henceforth, and forever be free of cheerleaders.
Then we do the Gangham Shake!
1. Mrs. Owen will stop watching the Browns with me, and getting her to become a Browns fan has been my life’s work for 13 years. The absence of, er, “well-enhanced pseudo-strippers” on the Browns’ sideline has been the last bastion of hope to her acceptance of this thing called “the Cleveland Browns,” ‘cuz, you know, the “football” product hasn’t been very good in 13 years.
2. Nothing else matters.
like you never wanted to kick Schaub in the groin. Suh was just presented the opportunity.
We started a game we never got to finish. “GM for Blood,” remember?
“& then…….?” Winning
I pray above all things holy that the “Gangham Shake” is really a thing.
“Oh, that. I was just foolin’ about”
That was more of a stomp than a kick
Out of curiosity.. what if the Bills then got cheerleaders?
So what you’re saying is..
Kruger – #6 + #23 + #25 = Profit? Interesting hypothesis.
Rugby.
Thought rugby was required to have cheerleaders. Or some sort of visual accent to offset the generally bad television aesthetics.
well, if we are talking stomps, then we can reference the Tday Lions v. Packers game. That Packers OG’s arm has got to still sting.
Like where your head’s at…I’d do that in a heartbeat. But who is around at #6 that the Vikings would want desperately enough to trade up for?
Sources say … put your hands on your head. Sources say … Browns call Paul Kruger’s agent last weekend. Browns sign Paul Kruger!
(gotcha)
And while I’m not disagreeing with you, keep in mind that Flacco’s cap number is only 6 million this year. Yes, Baltimore has cap problems, but good teams structure and restructure contracts so that they can keep the essentials and cast off the overpriced.
easy there, Eddie Grant.
I hear they need a WR to trade to Seattle once he proves to be good.
NFLN is saying we are getting Keenan Lewis today too. Now, that one I will be happy about (assuming non-ridiculous contract)
Oh OH Oh, I like this better than mine
I think every team is required to have one player wear one of those throwback-looking football helmet/wresting harness/water polo headgear thingies. That’s all they do in the aesthetics department.
