Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News is reporting former Oakland Raiders tight end Brandon Myers is in New Jersey today meeting with the New York Giants.
Last year for Oakland, Myers had 79 catches on 109 targets for 806 yards and 4 TD’s. 2012 was a career year for the 27 year old out of Iowa. In Myers first three season in the NFL he collected only 32 catches before breaking out last season.
Myers has also been linked to the Browns who are in the market for a new starting tight end with the departure of Ben Watson.
The Browns are have also spoken with Washington free agent Fred Davis to fill their opening at tight end.
Outside of Myers and Davis, the best available tight ends are Baltimore’s Dennis Pitta (second round tender), Green Bay’s Tom Crabtree, and the New York Giant’s Travis Beckum. Seeing as the Browns do not own a second round pick in this year’s draft it appears they’ll need to land Myers or Davis if they want to a clear upgrade over Ben Watson.
