Cleveland Browns will cooperate with Kevin Costner movie about team
March 7, 2013While We’re Waiting… Making a plan for free agency
March 8, 2013Lots of buzz around Cavalier-land today because of post-game comments made by Kyrie Irving about his knee last night.
Kyrie was asked if the knee was still bothering him and he replied “I’m trying not to let it bother me, but it’s still bruised. Just playing through it. It is what it is. Probably the only way that it would get better is to sit out the rest of the season, and I’m not doing that.”
At shoot around, Coach Scott was asked about Irving’s injury, and he said that seeing Kyrie’s clip this morning was the first he’d heard of this. He was pressed if Irving could be shut down, to which he responded–
“If it’s bothering him to a point where it’s bothering him enough that he can’t perform the way I know he’s capable of performing, yeah.”
Later he added-
“If he is hurt, I don’t want him out there playing. I don’t want him going at 50%”
The coach said he would check with the athletic trainer Max Benton for the update on Kyrie’s condition before making any determinations.
It didn’t take long for the Cavaliers to send word to those reporting the news that Kyrie will not be shut down at this time.

If it’s not 100%, don’t play him. Don’t risk further injury on a lost season.
I would usually agree with you BUT he needs to learn how to fight through being banged up if he wants to be a superstar. When was the last time Lebron, Kobe, or Durant missed long periods of time? Plus, he needs to get rid of the title of being injury prone.
none of those guys plays PG.
take a look at the injury histories of Rose, Wall, CP3(relatively here he’s good), Rondo, Nash, and Tony Parker.
Westbrook is the only “elite” PG who doesn’t have an injury history.
Can you say “TANK”???
His position is irrelevant. All I am saying is every NBA player is going to have this type of injury, sitting him if he isn’t “100” will hamper his development in the long run. Kyrie needs to play. He still has alot to learn, regardless of how ridiculous he already is. Plus all those players you brought up were never superstars. Maybe Nash but that is debatable. Rose seemed like he was on his way.
position is relevant when discussing if someone is injury prone or not.
Chris Paul isn’t a superstar?
Derrick Rose isn’t a superstar yet?
Steve Nash – winner of 2 MVP awards only gets a maybe?
Who is a superstar then?
My definition of a superstar-Someone who can carry there team to the finals…A la Lebron, Kobe, Durant, Dirk, Wade. I said was Rose was on his way, Nash is debatable but to say they are full fledge superstars is just stupid. Chris paul is very good but not a superstar and will never be. The term superstar is grossly overused.
I apologize for interjecting, but I wanted to comment on the definition of the term “superstar.” I think we can at least call the best player at his position a superstar. And while that point is also debatable, I would argue that Chris Paul is far and away the best PG in the game today (and thus ought to be considered a superstar). It really does depend on the person’s definition of the term, though.
That being said, I think Kyrie needs to play through the pain as well (if X-Rays are negative and he can practice, of course). If he can stay healthy, I see him passing CP3 on the list in 3-4 years.
Will this hurt him long term? No? Then let him gut it out. This can only be a good thing. Show the league how tough you are, Kyrie.
If he looks hobbled, sit him a few games. If not, let him play it out.
Put to rest the rumblings that you’re injury prone. You got this. Tell Memphis what up tomorrow…
well, there are 450 players in the NBA at any one time. I don’t think it’s gross overuse to say the top10 players in the league are the superstars.
I’ll question Byron Scott’s decision to sit Kyrie after I’ve won three NBA championships as a guard and coached two teams in the NBA Finals.
then you should love what Jordan is doing with Charlotte 🙂
