Buckeyes can’t Craft a win up in Ann Arbor
February 6, 2013Joe Banner and the assumed departure of Phil Dawson
February 6, 2013Urban Meyer wanted a fast team. It is safe to say that Ohio State has gotten faster, especially at the WR position. Meyer and the Buckeyes landed WR James Clark, WR Corey Smith and WR/RB Dontre Wilson. Clark was clocked at 4.39 in the 40 yard dash.
Wilson was Oregon bound before Chip Kelly left for the NFL. Urban Meyer took advantage of the opportunity to flip the speedy RB/WR.
Corey Smith chose OSU over Clemson and Florida.
Big names on defense include S Vonn Bell, who was deciding between OSU, Tennessee and Alabama. Bell is a Georgia native and a serious playmaker in the secondary. Huge get for the Buckeyes.
Ohio State also grabbed Texas LB Mike Mitchell.
What you really need to know about this class is that Urban Meyer is getting the players he wants. Ohio State is now a player for national recruits. Several top guys coming from Florida and Texas. These commits haven’t traditionally picked the Buckeyes before, or at least not this many in one class.
The last big name the Buckeyes are waiting for is RB Ezekiel Elliot, who is scheduled to make his announcement at 5pm. Elliot may flip his commitment with the talented class Ohio State has already brought in.

(or Georgia, Texas, Florida?)
ok, I know it’s needed to compete where we all want to compete. but, it is a little sad to see us focus more nationally in the past and let some of the top Ohio recruits go to Michigan, Pitt, West Virginia, etc.
and really strange to see Cinci completely miss out on this opportunity.
i will feel less sad when i see NAT’y champs start rolling in….
VON VON VON. Urban for the Win!!
Bring that speed and athleticism to go with the old school brute force of the Big 10,11,12!
Can’t get ’em all personally I’m happy to see Meyer tap into that southern well of talent that has helped keep the SEC winning all of those National Championships.
…along with the inevitable rape and assault arrests?
Vonn Bell is a native of Chattanooga, TN. He only attends Ridgeland High School in Rossville, GA because his mother works there.

Hopefully Urban Meyer keeps having these Top 3-5 recruiting classes and our Buckeyes become the team to stop the deer-antler SEC from PED-ing National Championships.
Top 3 and 5 of top 11 isn’t bad. Was not an overly strong class from Ohio this year. Nice to see the haul though (OH#1, #2, #3, #9, #11; TX#1, #20; SC#1; NJ#3; GA#4, #9; NC#8; FL#9)
I am pumped man. We are sitting at #2 class after Meyer’s first year of recruiting. I think we can get used to an average season getting to 10 wins.
Scout.com had them as #1 as of 30 minutes ago. Michigan was #2 Alabama #8. That’ll change.
I thought we already were used to at least 10win seasons and beating that team up North each year.
That 6 win season set me back man…
what 6win season? I have vacated that season from my memory 🙂
