Love it. Mike is awesome
Lame.
Not his best work, but it has its moments…
Yeah, that was awful, just like most of this “comedian’s” stuff
Wow. Tough room. I thought it was pretty funny. Especially the (spoiler alert!)
Owen Marecic tag.
Hilarious and so true!
I thought it was funny. The Lombardi jokes and if you pause it and read the Craiglist entry I thought were especially good.
Pretty good, but needs about 10x more “candidly” references
Pretty funny and accurate. Especially about dealing with ridiculous local media. Ie idiot schmuck cohost on morning radio show
wasnt bad just hard to laugh at your own teams
Was okay, I guess. Maybe I just expect too much, after the immortal “Factory of Sadness.”
In this one, he’s just ripping on everyone: the team, the ownership, the media, the fans. That’s perfectly okay, and would soar if these jabs were segregated into individual bits, but it loses something all jumbled together.
Oh, what do I know? Look at me, playing comedy critic. It was awesome, and it sucked. There.
Not his best effort, but still good for a chuckle.
Not bad I guess, but by doing this bit, Polk isn’t really much different from the sports media types he teases, is he? I
/Overthinking this.
Making it funny is at least more respectable than indignant screaming and yelling, right? By being comedic he’s admitting that he’s playing it up for some effect. Talk radio guys play it up but there’s this facade that its basis is in truth.
/also overthinking this.
That’s true, Craig.
BTW, it took me a while to realize that the older sports talk guy pictured in the bit was Rizzo. Holy cow, he looks way different without the TV make-over.
Our Cleveland teams are an embarrassment. It’s gotten to the point that they are so bad it’s funny. I’ve accepted this fact, and enjoyed the comedy on display every season…
Was going to comment on the same thing… how do you impersonate Jimmy Haslam without saying “candidly”?
About as funny as Chunk Booms
“without the TV make-over” = his toupee
Agree with Craig – you guys are tough. This is edgy, inside and topical Cleve sports angry humor for us at this moment, not an HBO comedy special. Give this talented dude credit – factory of sadness’s theme touches an ongoing theme for years, here he’s trying to capture a moment humorously. In 6 months we won’t even remember what he was talking about.
Indeed. My humble Jimmy Haslam suggestion for Mike Polk: “Our coaching search has turned up can-diddly-squat so far”. Yikes, that’s why he’s the comedian…
Hilarious
Candidly speaking, that was pretty good.
At least he knows his football. Only real football fans can truly appreciate how bad Owen Marecic is.
The question is how: many of the emails that he gets at that yahoo account is he going to post for our entertainment purposes?
One other thing now that this has marinated all day:
There’s kind of an unattractive piling-on, “debacle” aspect to this bit. Haslam still hasn’t done anything wrong.
Polk would have been a lot funnier if he had dressed up as Chip Kelly and made fun of him.
/officially crossed over to obsessing
Eh. Same old tired “Bash on Cleveland” crap. Whatever.
