MLB News: Indians sign Perez, Smith, Masterson and Albers to one-year deals
January 18, 2013NFL Rumor: Ray Horton expected to be named Browns defensive coordinator
January 18, 2013Joe Haden is far more established than first-year pleasant surprise receiver Josh Gordon. Gordon tweeted earlier “uh oh” upon hearing that Michael Lombardi had been hired for the Browns personnel department. Joe Haden apparently feels much more secure in his spot with the Browns. He seems more forgiving too of some of the pre-draft rhetoric out of Mike Lombardi that maybe Joe Haden wasn’t fast enough.

Haden had an up and down year because of his problems off the field and the NFL’s substance abuse program. On the field, Haden was exactly as good a player as anyone could have expected him to be. It is pretty entertaining to see these players address the various opinions that Lombardi had about them when he was a commentator on TV.
If you ever doubted that players read and listened to their critics, this is a very valuable lesson. They’re not only reading hateful tweets after rough games like Josh Cribbs. They’re paying attention to the next-day draft graders.
So Joe Haden’s opinion is a very mature one that all people make mistakes. Let’s just hope his statement doesn’t apply to Joe Banner a few years from now with regard to hiring Michael Lombardi.

JOE HADIN DON’T GET US CLEVELANDERS!
i don’t see how you get tone out of that tweet. is he “forgiving” Lombardi by making that statement or is he bringing it up the same way that Gordon did?
I think we need to remain optimistic here. Lombardi has the scouts Heckert had, plus Lombardi isn’t the only head there as Banner and Chud are as well. Add Norv Turner, Tabor, and future DC to input coming from Chud. If there is a trade for Mallet, it should be Weeden straight up. Don’t forget that Heckert screwed up with some picks as well. With Lombardi, it’s important to remember the Al Davis factor when he was with Oakland.
Yeah, and some people make mistakes over and over and over and over…
We’re screwed. I would consider him not drafting a kicker in the first round a major victory.
I am wondering if I made a mistake in becoming and remaining a Browns fan.
The hiring of Lombardi is the latest in a long line of kicks in the nuts.
If they draft Gino Smith or Matt Barkley with the 6th pick, I may have to throw in the towel and cancel the Sunday ticket package on DirecTv and become a casual fan.
I don’t use Twitter much, but have noticed that there is an unspoken convention for athletes/celebrities to use an exclamation point after most of their tweets. I suppose it denotes that someone is saying something with a flourish, but it also creates post-modern ambiguity when the direction of the sentiment cannot be inferred. I think I’ve just created a PhD thesis for someone…
Worst lynch mob rallying cry ever! Next you’re going to tell me the sky is not falling when we all know it will be. Oh, I kid. And through my worrying, I remaining ridiculously optimistic too–that Lombardi won’t hurt us and that the staff shaping up pretty well.
Maybe getting too many chiefs to try to make a decision. Lombardi has NEVER been any good. Could have saved the money and hired a casual fine to help with drafting. Not sure of his other responsibilitiesbut he does not know talent.Heckert gave us a base – we just needed a coach.
Browns fans don’t really have any other choice but to be optimistic. If the Patriots take Weeden for Mallett I’ll be pissed at them, the Patriots, no thanks. I think if you want to talk about a new QB the name Alex Smith would be near the top of those discussions. He has history with Lombardi in SF.
You dont have the “tone” ap?? Craig obviosly has like me. You can torally tell that Haden said it the same way Taylor Swift comgrarulated Adele for her golden globe. Trust me. Get the “tone”. Ap ita the 4 th dimension of Tweeting
What history does he have with Lombardi? Alex Smith was 3 years old the last time Lombardi worked for SF. Am I missing something here?!?! I FEEL LIKE IM TAKING CRAZY PILLS
