He’ll be going to see the Cavs and Lakers next week (hopefully in his new WFNY shirt!) Thanks to all for using the proper format as well, just makes it a little easier on me. Just a reminder how the giveaway works. For the next 11 weekdays we will give away a Cleveland themed prize. To enter, you need only to respond in the comment section in the appropriate manner. The winner each day will be randomly selected and notified by email. (Which means you better make sure that the email address you use to comment here is a legit one.) I cannot guarantee delivery by Christmas. We’ll do our best with the things we have in hand. Only one member of a household can enter each day, and only one winner per household during the length of this contest. Just spreading the love around.
Let’s get to today’s contest-
The winner today will receive a Wahoo blue and red WFNY t-shirt as well as a Jason Kipnis autographed baseball! The Kipnis ball is an official MLB baseball and comes in a cube holder.
And let me say, these blue shirts from our partners at GV Art and Design are super sharp!
Today’s Question:
Jason Kipnis’ nickname is ‘dirtbag’, a reflection of the way he plays the game with hustle and effort. What current or former Indian is your favorite ‘dirtbag’ for hustle and all out effort on the field?
Remember that to enter you need to 1) re-state the question and 2) answer the question.
Comments must be posted by midnight Cleveland time in order to qualify for the drawing. Check back tomorrow at noon for the results. Remember, only one entry is allowed, but you may still comment to add to the discussion.
Good luck!

Einar Diaz.
Einar dealt with the short end of the stick from the Tribe along with other teams and did it honorably. He had to fill the shoes of Sandy Alomar Jr. and then Pudge Rodríguez when he went to the Rangers. I can’t think of a more admirable ‘dirtbag.’

I’m going to stick with Kipnis. I love the way he plays the game. He’s tough, he’s gritty, and he gives 100% whenever he’s between the lines. He’s the kind of guy with energy that other teammates can feed off of.

Supermannahan. He wasn’t the best player on the field, but I’d take him on my team anyway.
What current or former Indian is your favorite ‘dirtbag’ for hustle and all out effort on the field?
It has to be Kenny Lofton. He always gave 110% and was a never say die type. I remember when he came back from that dislocated shoulder in the playoffs like a month before he was supposed to and played on opening day.

Dammit. My answer is Kipnis. I live in Baltimore now and he gave me a reason to watch as many Tribe games as possible this season.

What current or former Indian is your favorite ‘dirtbag’ for hustle and all out effort on the field?
Grady Sizemore. Outside of random minor league scrubs who just got called out, I can’t remember another Indians player who would regularly run out routine ground balls. I always thought if you were getting paid an obscene amount of money to play baseball, the least you could do is run hard 4 times a day…
I meant called up, not called out.

My favorite dirtbag for hustle was Casey Blake because he played every position on the field and tried his best.
What current or former Indian is your favorite ‘dirtbag’ for hustle and all out effort on the field?
A: Carlos Baerga
I remember reading an article in Sports Illustrated for Kids where Baerga said he made sure his uniform got dirty every game, since that evidence of his effort was how he gauged his personal success. Guess that always kind of stuck with me.
Plus, he had a sweet ‘Stache, which is always relevant in any argument.
What current or former Indian is your favorite ‘dirtbag’ for hustle and all out effort on the field?
Omar Vizquel – he did it all – and his bat was underrated b/c of all the monster lineups he played on in the 90s
My favorite dirtbag for the tribe would have to be Cory Snyder! I remember he hit a homerun and had a great catch in the first Tribe game I ever went to!
What current or former Indian is your favorite ‘dirtbag’ for hustle and all out effort on the field?
Using Kipnis’ definition of dirtbag, it needs to be Omar. No one gave more of an out right hustle and amazing razzle dazzle. Off the field, my favorite dirtbag is Super Joe. I mean, let’s face it, any guy that opens a beer bottle with his eye socket is the poster child for dirtbag.
What current or former Indian is your favorite ‘dirtbag’ for hustle and all out effort on the field?
For me, it would have to be Roberto Alomar, when I was a kid, watching him and Vizquel always blew my mind. Diving stops and head first slides, dude was never not on the ground.

What current or former Indian is your favorite ‘dirtbag’ for hustle and all out effort on the field?
