Ravens DE on Trent Richardson: “He’s the hardest back in the NFL to tackle.”

Ray Rice is a self-proclaimed Trent Richardson fan, but it appears he isn’t the only Baltimore player that respects Richardson’s talent. In a BaltimoreRavens.com report, defensive end Pernell McPhee had some comments-

“I think he runs the ball harder than anybody in the league,” defensive end Pernell McPhee said. “Not saying he’s the best back in the league, but I’ll say he’s the hardest back in the NFL to tackle.”

Also from the same article-

“With a 5-foot-9, 230-pound frame, Richardson reminded defensive tackle Haloti Ngata of Jacksonville’s Maurice Jones-Drew. He reminded defensive end Art Jones of Rice. They’re all small, muscular backs that are quick and have power.

“He’s not going to try to shake you, he’s just going to try to run over you,” Ngata said.

“He doesn’t go down with one person tackling him,” nose tackle Terrence Cody added. “We’re going to need multiple guys around the ball every time he touches the ball.”

This is the best comment ever.

  • Got to give him the ball this weekend… none of this fancy 50 throws a game crap… Let’s see if they keep it balanced… I don’t know the stats, but it seems that the 2 wins had us using a pretty balanced attack…

This. I’m still a fan of Weeden and I think he’s done a great job since his debacle in the Philly game, but with no Ray Lewis in that lineup, you should be able to run the ball on the Ravens. Obviously if they’re consistently putting 8 or 9 men in the box, then you’ve got to throw the ball, but even then, let’s get the ball out to Trent in the flat and let him go to work.

What if we find ourselves down by 14 in the 3rd quarter? This is a chicken/egg issue.

I hate when teams try to out-compliment each other. This is supposed to be a rivalry. It’s more fun when there’s fresh bulletin board material.
