While We’re Waiting… What’s Holding the Browns Back?
September 26, 2012Kluber Spoils Afternoon For Sox, Perez Spoils Win With Postgame Comments
September 26, 2012It is a short week for us too, so here we go. Gotta get those surveys filled out today and early tomorrow before the Browns do battle against the Ravens. I noted this morning on Twitter that the NFL Network was promoting the game with a highlight video of Greg Little dunking the football over the crossbar of the goal posts. Not to pick on Greg Little, because he’s taken enough this week, but that’s just sad. NFL Network production employees had to go to a guy who has scored three career regular season touchdowns for a slow-mo highlight to try and hype up the game?
Sorry. I feel like I just skewed the survey results. Please disregard that last part of the first paragraph for survey taking purposes.

The end of the poll should probably say Raven’s score rather than Bills score.
This team has a history the past few years of playing well in games that nobody gives them a chance in. It’s actually not a terrible thing to put a bunch of rookies in a situation where nobody expects them to win. No pressure…let’s just go out and do our thing. That, coupled with a potential let down from their big in on Sunday, the Ravens might be vulnerable. Not saying I’m expecting a win, but I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if this game is a lot closer than it should be on paper.
Fixed. Thanks.
As every character in every Star Wars movies has said, “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”
there is no rational reason to give as to why we should make this game competitive, let alone win it.
but, it is the NFL (that’s all I got)
This is one of those games where I really wish Mangini was still the coach. Think we can bring him in for one day?
because he had such success against Baltimore?
Well, nobody in a Browns coaching headset has had success there. I’m thinking more of his shockers against NE and NO – out of the blue upsets against much better teams.
yes, we could use such a performance. Romeo had his as well (NYG in ’08 comes to mind).
those against all odds, out of the blue, jaw-dropping wins that make no sense. hoping Shurmur can place one for himself tomorrow.
A humble request for video stills of the interior O-line failing to open holes for the running game…..Granted, there maybe limited attempts.
I’m ready to ride the wave to victory! Let’s shock the world Brownies! One big win and this thing will start to roll……
If we can’t win…..then please just give me one good solid T-Rich truck job on that murderer Ray Lewis.
I think they’ll lay a big fat brownie and heads will be closer to rolling!
We need one of those in the worst way. (God, winning that Phiily game would have been SO huge.) I really do think it would be a huge spark that would pay dividends the rest of the season. If we could just find a way to win either of the next two…
You may be right, Shamrock. I hope you’re dead wrong, though. I can see this game being a season headliner – one that you look back on in December and point to as the point when this thing turned for good. Let’s beat the Ravens in their own backyard….and carry that momentum into the Giants game too. Confidence starts to rise and these young guys take off.
Everything is fresh for this game. Weeden has a clean slate against Baltimore and so does Richardson. For all we know their careers could be known as being Ravens killers….and that legacy could be about writing Chapter 1 on Thursday night.
We need something good…..God knows I need something good….
Um ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooook.
It really all comes down to Weeden getting the timing down with deep throws to a bunch of receivers. Teams obviously are more concerned with stopping Richardson, and stack the box, allowing for one-on-one deep coverage. Once Weeden hits a couple (and he will soon) everything, and I mean everything opens up. Richardson has more room, the underneath stuff has more room….and perhaps the best weapon of all….Richardson on screens will open up too. We saw what he can do with open space and DBs in his way.
Just need the deep ball to hit a couple times in a row…..I truly believe we are that close to this offense being fantastic.
I’m on board Dawg. This game is 100% winnable. It could turn everything around….let me rephrase….it will turn everything around.
Adding to that….I’d love to see Gordon get his chance at a deep, “jump ball” throw. Benjamin can separate, but isn’t the type of guy to go up and get it…..same with MoMass. Let’s see Gordon on a deep jump ball….one-on-one coverage down the sideline….Weeden throws it high, and underthrows a bit….Gordon either goes up to get it, or gets held for pass interference. Let’s turn it loose boys.
If Weeden can start consistently hitting some deep balls, it will change everything. As soon as the defense has to start respecting Weeden, we throw a healthy dose of TRich at them. I agree…we are close to seeing a decent offense if they can just get their timing figured out.
Hey now, Butch was 4-3 against Baltimore (and 2-1 on the road)!
100% winnable? Sure. Any given Sunday, right (Or Thursday, as it were)? Predicting that we will win and it will definitely turn everything around? I’m not going to go that far…but I am more optimistic than most that we can at least keep it close.
I wouldn’t bet large sums of money that this will definitely happen this week, but I appreciate the optimism.
Good point. He also drafted (drafted!) Pontbriand!
last year, Cribbs was our best player at “going and getting it” on long-balls. perhaps we should throw him out there a few times and give it the old college try with him.
Fans can go one of two ways. Either you cry and moan about everything your team is not and be miserable….or you get behind your players 100% and look at the positives they bring. Not saying I can’t call a spade a spade, but I have seen a lot more positives in this year’s 0-3 then I did last year. The way I see it, once this thing does start to roll, I won’t have to stand in line waiting to by my bandwagon ticket either.
No MoMass might just be the recipe to see this too.
37-10 Ravens is my prediction.
Even though they may lose, I still think the Browns get their first win agaist the Giants. I’ve stuck by this prediction since the end of Super Bowl XLVI.
They should post the results right away. I am sure they post them later on in the week. By that point, it is too late to care.
