Weeden: I still need more time to get comfortable

I still need time to get comfortable with the speed of the game. I need to better understand when to step up in the pocket and, if I feel pressure, when I step up then to have good ball security and not give in to the defense. I showed some areas tonight in which I need to improve upon, and fortunately, it is still the preseason and I have to do that.

— Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden following Friday nights game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Weeden completed just 9-of-20 passes for 117 yards against the Eagles in the third preseason game.

Well will this O-Line u got about 1.5-3 seconds.

  • DontbringLBJback

O-Line was really, really bad. Weeden Carrot Top had time to throw he did great.

  • Is this guy serious? The Browns don’t have the kind of time it is going to take to get Weeden comfortable. If this team is serious about winning they need to sit Weeden until he is comfortable and start McCoy…..

  • bossman09

The browns are not playing like superbowl contenders and the rookie QB isn’t 100%? I’m shocked.

    Go on……..

  • John_LC_Silvoney

When you’re lying in a hospital bed with broken ribs and a concussion you’ll have ample time to get comfortable.

  • That’s true. Weeden is the one single handedly keeping us from the playoffs. We don’t have any time at all to invest in his development this year considering our loaded all pro roster of vets in their prime. With Colt, bank on a SB win. Wow

  • buckeyesRus

If Weeded starts, he will not last four games. McCoy will be starting within the first four games, trust me on this one!

  • brandonls10

wow people give the guy at least a fraction of your time to transition from the college level to the NFL level…….he will pan out just fine but for the love of god just give him a second……………..

  • Vindictive_Pat

This is what I saw as well. The guy definitely has an arm, and an accurate one at that. He had a couple of balls where the pass was perfect but dropped or the pass was perfect but the defender made a great play. I’m much more concerned about our offensive line than I am about our quarterback… at least the QB looks like he’s on track for a rookie.

would it be the worst thing to let Colt take all the hits early in the season while Weeden and the O-Line develop for a few games?

  • Hopwin

If you wanted him to have time to adjust to the pros then you should have sat him behind Colt, Seneca or a free-agent QB. If you name him the starter than you’ve told me he is ready to go out of the box.

?? or you believe that it’s better to learn the lessons on the field instead of on the sidelines.
