Two Cleveland Browns highlight Grantland’s “NFL Trade Value Rankings”
August 31, 2012Looking for Leaders in the Cleveland Indians Clubhouse
August 31, 2012Who caught your eye? Did someone stand out? Who blew it? That’s what were interested in this morning. Winners and losers.
Well, that was….not…really…that good.
With cuts coming sometime today (deadline is 9pm), the Browns got their final look at several players last night. What they saw might not have been very impressive.
WINNER: Brandon Jackson. Jackson looked strong and determined running the ball. He even seemed to be enjoying himself out there. Of course, Jackson really wasn’t fighting for a roster spot. I bet he is getting more and more fans in the coaches office for the 3rd down back duties.
WINNER: Adonis Thomas. Thomas did nothing to hurt his chances either. Even if he doesn’t get the nod over Chris Ogbonnaya (who I remind you doesn’t even block a defender’s view), he put a few good runs on tape for another team. He will likely get a practice squad invite given the injury concerns.
LOSER: Montario Hardesty. Yes, I’m a little running back heavy. During a sideline report, Mark Schwartz when trying to find something positive to say uttered this line- “at least Montario Hardesty didn’t fumble tonight.” Yep. Low expectations.
LOSER: Craig Robertson. Robertson got a lot of playing time, and didn’t take advantage in my opinion. Saw a couple missed tackles, and even the plays he did make were way down the field. Benjamin Jacobs’ plays on special teams may have hurt him as well. Still a better than half shot he makes the team though.
Alright, I’ve rambled on enough. I think I left some meat on the bone for you.

can’t go further it’s too depressing.
I only watched a little but when I did Jackson and Thomas seemed the most impressive. I realize there was going to be alot of running the ball and that it would be against the Bears backups but it was still nice to see especially out of Jackson.
I was disappointed in the WRs but that’s nothing new and I was hoping Evan Moore might actually post some numbers. I’m hoping Moore gets cut and finds his way to a team who has an offense who can utilize his skill set because it’s wasted on this unimaginative group. The fact that the teams best WRs didn’t play because of the threat of injury despite the fact NONE let me repeat that NONE of them have impressed speaks for itself. This is the same group who is supposed to go against opponents best DBs and help Brandon Weeden. Yea, okay. Oh wait Josh Cribbs played. I guess that tells you where he rates in the WR group.
Loser: Me, if I decide to watch the game.
Winner: Me, if I realize this game didn’t mean much and decide to watch a movie instead.
I have no idea how they can justify keeping Montario Hardesty on this team. RB1 Richardson, RB2 Jackson, RB3 Thomas. Hardesty showed me next to nothing in every game I watched.
Loser: JMJ – reading that he hurt his oblique. Ugh. We don’t need any LBer injuries.
WINNER: Rick, who didn’t label Colt McCoy a loser as the PD did this morning. Mary Kay Cabot wrote that McCoy “slinked out with a 9.2” passer rating. Sheesh, he threw five measly passes, and one of his incompletions was a drop. Get a grip, MK.
LOSER: Replay. I’ll never understand how that one catch by the Bears was ruled incomplete on replay. Also, do they really need to analyze plays with what someone called “Zapruder-like precision.” I’d rather have a bad call now and then than this incessant microscopic review. Play ball.
Lets hope one or two veteran LBs are cut and that this team takes a chance on one. I don’t think this team can go long with the kids based on what I saw in the preseason. I actually liked Fort just not sure he’s ready for a ton of playing time if he makes the team.
Anybody else surprised that Mitchell Schwartz didn’t play last night? Now there’s a guy who needs reps.
And how long are games going to last this year? Score a TD, commercial break while refs review scoring play. Kick extra point. Commercial break. Kick-off. Commercial break. Ugh.
Winner : Trevin Wade, thought he played a great game
Losers: Dockery and Windsor definitely played themselves off the team. Schaefering didn’t help himself chasing around McCown for what turned out to be ab big first down for them.
Was surprised they cut Smelley and glad he’s on the practice squad. I think they are still trying to justify picking Owen M last year.
64 yd run, Adonis Thomas is not getting cut, unless the coaches have gone mad.
