Cavaliers Rank 101st in ESPN’s “Uniform Power Ranking”

Paul Lucas of Uni-Watch is revealing his power ranking of all 122 NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL team uniforms. The first group was posted today, and it has the Cleveland Cavaliers at number 101-

“When LeBron James played in Cleveland, the Cavs had one of the best uniforms in the league. As soon as he left, they suddenly started dressing like the local semipro team that plays at the high school gym and uses the janitor’s closet as a locker room. Started playing like a semipro team, too. Coincidence?”

Well, yes actually. It was a coincidence, but those who read the site regularly won’t be surprised at all when I agree with Paul’s take. The Cavaliers had a great uniform design. A beautiful blend of color with a very unique font. It was certainly one of the best uniforms in all of sports, not just the NBA. Then they ditched it for the ketchup and mustard monsters they currently wear.

Of course, Dave Dameshek listed the Cavaliers 11th in a similar rating this past weekend. So there you go Cavalier fans.

The Cavaliers have entirely to many uniforms that being said they are almost all better then the football and baseball teams, IMO. Sincerely, Tim Gunn.

  • Alex

They need to go back the early 90’s white, blue and orange uni. By far the best

I hated the LeBron era one. Love the new ones. Maybe my opinion is different because I’m a woman?

  • Brett

Most likely the perception will change when the team starts to play well. Some jerseys are genuinely ugly, but most people like jerseys based on performance. Examples: Lakers Celtics Steelers Yankees. We could go on and on. Personally I like the LeBron era better. These ones seem very bland, but like I said once they start winning then the jerseys look great.

    How you doin’? 😉

keep the wine and gold! I was raised on the Price/Nance/Daugherty unis of which you speak, and while I loved them, I also felt they were too “Knicks-y” Viva uhh..umm whatever wine and gold is in Spanish

  • Patrick McMenamin

I like our new unis. They’re throwbacks. Perfect uniform for Uncle Drew.

  • Ritz

Cavs unis are simple, classy, same for the Browns.

The Indians however, outside of the alternate, cream colored home unis (which are awesome), the rest look mismatched and are extremely boring.

  • Jack

Totally agreed, Julie. Hate metallic gold in uniforms always. Thought the type was clumsy. Didn’t get the navy. Hated LBJ-era threads.

    Really like the new ones.

  • Gren

I loved the Lebron era ones and cannot stand how simple and plain the new ones look.

  • It’s not the design of the new unis, it’s the colors–absolutely terrible. I wasn’t a big fan of the font on the LBJ’s, but the colors were excellent. Make that change or go back to the orange & blue style, but get rid of these new ones please.

How dare you come between me and Julie – I challenge you to a duel good sir!

  • King Me

I didn’t know I was in such a minority of people who like the Irving-era unis. I, for one, love the simplicity of them… But I think we can all agree that they’re better than the black and blue eyesores they wore in the late 90’s/early 00’s.

  • nick

I like the unique colors, compared to the NBA’s obsession with blue and orange. The problem for me has always been the whites at home. Just do a invert colors to the away jersey, making the home unis yellow and you have instant classic.

  • NamedMyKidPrice

Not really concerned with this. Please be Friday so I can watch the Browns again!

  • btrick21

Indians didn’t do much better.. they came in at #99.

  • AlexMathews

No! The script “Indians” has grown to be iconic of the “Jacobs Field” era. Perfect red, white and blue blend and I hope that does not change.

  • AlexMathews

Home unis should never be yellow. We’re not the Lakers.

  • Julie

    Haha. Cute.
