Josh Tomlin’s demotion from fourth starter to long man spelled the end for one of the members of the Indians bullpen. Following last night’s game, it proved to be Jeremy Accardo, who was designated for assignment. The spot cleared will be used for left-handed starting pitcher Chris Seddon, who will face the Tigers this afternoon.
Accardo, 30, started the season in Columbus after losing out to Dan Wheeler in Spring Training. In 26 appearances, Accardo had a 4.58 ERA in 35 1/3 innings, striking out 28 while walking 16 and allowing 38 hits.
Seddon, 28, posted a 11-5 record at Columbus with a 3.44 ERA in 20 starts (123 innings pitched), with 27 BB’s and 108 K’s. He last pitched in the majors in 2010 with Seattle.
