What’s the issue with Brandon Weeden’s contract?
July 2, 2012Report: Former Buckeye William Buford to work out for Chicago Bulls
July 2, 2012We thought that Travis Hafner might be joining the Indians today for their series opener with the Angels. Hafner began his rehab stint with the Clippers on June 27th, but has only appeared in two games. He has gone 1 for 6 in those games with an RBI and 2 strikeouts.
With Lonnie Chisenhall’s injury, it was thought Hafner would be brought back quickly. That isn’t the case-
Travis Hafner will not be joining the #Indians today. Continuing rehab at AAA Columbus

The Indians originally said Hafner would get 3-5 rehab games, but he sat out games Thursday and Friday. Did he have lingering issues after the first game?
Certainly we don’t want Hafner rushed back. Nobody wants him to go down again. That might be a nail in the coffin on the Indians’ season.

Imagine what it would be like to make 13 million dollars this year to do nothing. How would you feel about that sort of thing? After taxes, of course, it’s only about 7-8 million, but still.
Hafner not ready to join big league club is a good synopsis of his career. Such a shame to.
“Report: Hafner not ready to join big league club…”
Couldn’t that be the headline almost every year for this bozo?
I hate how people rag on Hafner all the time like this is somehow his fault. It’s not like he WANTS to be injured, and he isn’t reckless. When he isn’t injured he is still productive offensively and valuable to the Indians orginization.
yessir. and yet people are begging for Willingham who put up slightly worse numbers in slightly more games the last few years compared to Hafner.
i’d feel pretty lousy, honestly. i’d feel bad to not be keeping my part of the deal.
now, after I retired, it’d be different. but, while it was going on, i’d be down.
@mgbode:disqus At least he played those games and wasn’t hitting 1-3 in Akron.
Imagine being the best hitter in the league for a 3 year period, and not even making 3.5 million over that timeframe. It goes both ways.
last 3 years (before this one – last offseason is when we considered signing Josh):
Hafner 102 games – OPS+ 126
Willingham 128 games – OPS+ 125
26 more games per season over a 3yr stretch we considered Pronk very injury-prone. Doesn’t seem like alot to me.
