Despite Performance on the Field, Indians’ Rock-n-Blast is a Hit
July 23, 2012NFL Report: Claiborne Signs; Seven First Round Picks Remain Unsigned
July 23, 2012We don’t talk hockey here much since DP left us for greener Blue Jacket pastures, but there is some pretty big news coming out of Columbus this afternoon–
“So Rick Nash is traded to the Rangers for Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov, Tim Erixon and a first round pick.
I have a very hard time accepting Erixon as a piece of the deal. His pouting in Calgary gives me serious pause when it comes to how loyal he’ll be to the Jackets. Dubinsky should fit in well, while Anisimov adds some size and skill up the middle. He will likely team with Derick Brassard as the team’s top-six centermen.”
It wasn’t long ago that Nash and LeBron were going to bring glory and titles to Ohio. That’s all gone now.

My professional sports life is miserable…
Man, as a Jackets fan, this is hard to stomach. Don’t really feel like we got what we should have in return for a player like Nash. That 1st round pick will be like 25-27, not top 15. Yuck.
Only silver lining on the pick is they now have three 1sts to maybe make a move. But yeah, otherwise it’s pretty lackluster.
that’s a real bum steer for Jackets fans. Sorry to hear that. I live in Gahanna, and Nationwide is an awesome arena and the fans do support their team. No fan deserves that. Hopefully they can figure something out eventually (although I admit it’s nice that when I go wearing a Wings sweater it’s like being at a home game)
New York claims another superstar, sheesh. To bad for Columbus but much like Cleveland with LeBron they certainly had enough time to make it work. The Blue Jackets weren’t much to watch with Nash so I can only imagine how it’ll be now.
Nowhere near same issue as LBJ, Nash signed an extension, he wanted to be here.
Then why on SI.com does it say that Columbus finally met Nash’s mid-season request and traded him.
The Blue Jackets finally met captain Rick Nash’s mid-season request and dealt him on Monday

Nash did sign the extension because he liked and wanted to stay in Columbus. He requested a trade because he was informed by management that there was another rebuild, or “retool” as it has been called, and he requested the trade because he felt he could be a huge part of the “retool”. I, as a Jackets fan, feel like he truly did like it in Columbus, even though it has been kinda miserable. Or he just did a great job hiding it. Class act guy.. he will be missed in Columbus.
I agree. Wouldn’t be surprised if that move would be for Bernier, the backup goalie from the LA Kings. Who knows, with the much improved blue line and new face(s) in goal, we may be able to get by with losing all the scoring that Nash did. Still sad to see 61 leave though.
