Report: Cavaliers extend qualifying offer to Gee

This afternoon Chris Grant called retaining Alonzo Gee a top priority. This evening they took the first step in doing so by making a qualifying offer to Gee, which means he is a restricted free agent. He could choose to sign the qualifying offer (not likely) or see what deal he can make for himself with another club, which the Cavaliers could then match and keep the athletic wing.

Gee showed tremendous growth last season, becoming particularly valuable as a scorer off the bench.

Larry the Cable Guy must be rolling over in his grave

    That was my intention!

  • wait a sec.. if this plays out its:

    PG: KI
    SG: Waiters
    SF: Gee
    PF: TT
    C: Zeller
    6th: AV

guys, that might could be a pretty good young team.

I’d love for Waiters to end up being our faux-6, which seems to be the style now. The Cavs’ 2nd unit could use somebody who can create, and that’s supposed to be what Waiters can give you. But for all intents and purposes, I agree that AV would make a great true 6th man if Zeller can hold his own at center.
