Kent State Advances to College World Series

You’ll probably have to get used to not having Tom Hamilton on the WTAM broadcasts for at least a little while longer. Tom’ll be heading to Omaha, along with his son Nick and the entire Kent State University Baseball team, after the Golden Flashes’ series win over the Oregon Ducks on Monday night.

In a dramatic ninth inning walk-off single, Kent State advanced to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska after defeating Oregon in the decisive third game of the Super Regional Series in Eugene, OR. The Kent State squad is the first MAC team to make the CWS since Eastern Michigan in 1976.

The team’s first game in Omaha will be this Saturday at 5 PM, opponent TBD. against Arkansas.

  • In typical Ohio sports fashion, they didn’t make it easy on themselves–or the fans! But well done, boys. Go Flashes!

they’ve got to get Tom calling a game.  I know Omaha is pretty restrictive on HRs, but that’d just make the calls he got on those even more special.

again, Tom calling a Nick HR would be worth putting on youtube, etc. to be played whenever you are feeling unmotivated and need an extra kick in the pants.

I always watch the flash video of the 12-run comeback complete with Hammy’s radio calls.

Proud Alum here. What a finish to last night’s game. It’s great to see all the Kent State love being spread across the Internet.
