The Indians pulled off the double header sweep of the White Sox today, winning the nightcap 3-2. Tomlin was magnificent, and the offense supplied just enough. Tony Sipp gets the save for Joe Smith who gets the relief win.

1 more for the series win. White Sox sit 5GB now.
(Indians up to .500 at home to boot)
fear. the. tribe.
And the Mariners came back to beat the Tigers! This day gets better and better!
So far our fears about offense have been for nothing. It’s a long season though. They need to stay healthy and keep up the clutch hitting. Learning how to score a man from third with less than two outs would help too.
The Marson, Cunningham, Kotchman, and Duncan lineup begs to differ on our fears of the offense. These 4 are the most untrusted with me when it comes to simple offense.
As far as scoring from third with less than two outs…..BUST OUT THE SQUEEZE!!!!!
Asdrubal Cabrera should be in a horror movie called “The Raking”. I’d be terrified of him if I were the White Sox.
you mean that we have outscored the Tigers by 11 runs on the year in the same number of games?
but our offense is TERRIBLE?
(I don’t care if it holds up or not, I’m giddy that we are doing well, in 1st place and opening up the lead)
If we’re using our right handed lineup, we’ll usually have Santana at first base instead of Kotchman, so no issues there. Once Sizemore returns we’re gonna let go of Cunningham, we have some good catching prospects down at AAA (Pagnozzi) we can look at if Marson continues to underperform, and Duncan will naturally have his ups and downs, but he’s worth keeping around when he gets it going.
To the rest of the league, the Indians are like those successful Minnesota Twins teams of the ’00s…looking at our roster nobody understands WHY we’re so good, but we always do JUST enough to win.
Eh, Matt Pagnozzi is batting .250 in C-Bus this year and hasn’t even hit .280 in ANY of his years in the minors.
Even Luke Carlin who is batting .342 right now (38 AB) for the Clippers has terrible numbers over his minor league career. In short I’d say our catcher “prospects” in Columbus would be no better than Lou Marson.
Well we know what we’re getting from Lou, so there’s no surprise there. And I’m not even sure why Cunningham and his 3-hop throws to the cutoff man is on an MLB roster.
Duncan and Kotchman need to get it going though. I know Duncan will never set the world on fire but earlier this season he was at least putting up a fight at the plate and walking a lot. Kotchman is sort of an enigma as far as his career splits go but he did hit .300 last year so he HAS to be better than this………right?
You mean Detroit, that .500 baseball team that blew a 2-0 lead to the Mariners in the 9th last night?
Your lineup can be as good as any, but if the 2-5 in your rotation stink and the majority of your bullpen stinks you aren’t going to be able to hold your leads.
I read somewhere that Detroit has more comeback wins after leading after 7 innings that wins when leading after 7 innings. Or something to that effect.
