Box Score: Magic 100, Cavaliers 84

Maybe the Cavaliers should have kept Luke Harangody around for this game, too.

On paper, the Cavaliers should have had a chance in this game. With Dwight Howard already out for this game with an injury, his backup Big Baby Davis went down with injury early in this contest. That should have cracked the door open for the Cavaliers to play a tough game and sneak out a win.

Instead, the Cavaliers fell behind by 20 early. A couple times they tried to go on runs, closing the gap to 9 points here, 12 points there. But every time, the Magic answered with a run of their own to expand their lead again. It’s easy, and perhaps appropriate, to blame the Cavaliers sluggish offense on this being their 3rd game in 3 days. But the NBA is no place for excuses, and really this was just an all around disappointing effort from the wine and gold.

Too many turnovers (17, compared to 6 for Orlando), poor shooting (37% compared to Orlando’s 45%), and just poorly executed half court offense plagued the team all day. Antawn Jamison returned to score 21 points, and Donald Sloan had a career high 15 points, but it’s hard to really highlight any positives from this game.

There are now 2 weeks left in the season, and the Cavaliers will be back to the grind Tuesday in Detroit. The Cavaliers played tough Friday and Saturday, so the weekend wasn’t all bad. But this will be a game to forget for Cleveland.

Why is Lester Hudson only playing 16 minutes a game now? after playing games with 36 and 34 minutes last week, he hasn’t cracked over 19 minutes a game. You think a guy who had 3 straight games of 20 plus points would get the start over Sloan. Oh well, I have no problem with tanking if it gives us a better draft spot.

No reason to win any more games this year. Landing Anthony Davis would make the cavs a legit contender in just a few years!

They’re tanking. Hudsanity is a threat to their precious ping pong balls.

Sloan actually played really well and has been playing well… definitely looks like our best bet at backup PG next season.  The poor play yesterday is the result of our starting frontcourt… Thompson, Gee, and Jamison all had awful games (especially Thompson, who was blocked on just about every shot attempt).  I do agree with Toad though… the team is quite obviously tanking right now.

and the Kings won.  Just 1 game back of a few more ping-pong balls.

That win over Washington was a killer!  😉
