The Tribe offense was getting plenty of hits, but for the second straight night, they specialized in leaving guys on base. That is, until the eighth inning. The Indians broke this game open in the top of the eighth with a two-run triple by Jason Kipnis and a wild pitch which allowed him to score. Kipnis had four hits and drove in three runs. Four other Indians (Hafner, Donald, Choo, Hannahan) had two hits apiece, and Jeanmar Gomez was brilliant in 5 1/3 innings as the Tribe moved to 7-1 on the road trip with the 5-1 victory over Oakland. The Tribe goes for the sweep tomorrow afternoon and a 8-1 trip with Justin Masterson facing Tyson Ross.

I get it. We have played three questionable teams, but I’ve been very impressed with the team lately. It’s not just that they’re winning, it’s HOW they’re winning. Playing small ball, clutch hitting, and most of all they’re patient.
Tribe time!!
Gomez looked pretty good, but brilliant might be a little much. It’s probably attributable to the lack of work (especially since he got better as he went along), but the first two innings were a little sketchy.
Saw someone post to twitter that Kipnis raised his season average something like .150 after his offensive outburst last night. This offense will only get better once AsCab gets back and Kipnis returns to last season form.
I dont know if we can hit enough to beat Detroit in the standings, but one of those Wild Cards could be in play if we stay healthy. Should be an entertaining summer.
And I know Hannahan’s .922 OPS probably isnt sustainable, but Im enjoying the hell out of it. Im a sucker for a good underdog story.
