Trading Ramon Sessions was the right move
March 15, 2012DB Mike Adams signs with Denver- not offered a contract by Browns
March 15, 2012According to a report by the NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora, the Cleveland Browns and free agent DE Juqua Parker have agreed to terms on a 1 year deal.
“Juqua Parker agrees to terms with the Browns 1yr, max of $3M”
Parker is 33 years old and spent the last 7 years with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played the first part of his career with the Tennessee Titans. He has 36.5 career sacks and scored a a career-high 8 in 2009. Last season he played in 12 games for the Eagles recording 1.5 sacks.
Parker is likely a depth signing for the Browns, backing up recently signed Frostee Rucker.

Maybe they will indeed be drafting offense since all the signings/resignings seem to be on the defensive side thus far.
Interesting move. Certainly goes against the “youth” movement, but keeps stride with the signing of people they know. I’m all for more depth, but the price seems maybe a bit high.
Oh well, it solidifies an important position and at least serves as an indication of what we won’t be doing in the draft.
It’s short term depth. He’s a 3rd down pass rusher. Kind of the opposite of Frostee Rucker. The football stat guys on twitter like him. Apparently he was able to get consistent QB pressures with minnimal snaps.
Cool. Worth the cost?
Parker can rush the passer and Rucker can play the run. Combine them and we have one very good DE. Boom, problem solved. Sorta.
Parker > Hillis?
(you know you were setting yourself up for that given the contract)
not good when one of the first things that pops in Google autofill when you type in his name is “Juqua Parker mugshot”…hopefully he doesn’t run afoul of the NFL program he is likely enrolled in and incur a suspension
other than that, I hope he is able to contribute
See, I don’t know. Maybe he is more valuable to us than Hillis. We’ll have to see. If he plays half as much as either Rucker or Sheard do this year, he’ll have certainly proven greater value than Hillis did last year.
I do think that $3 mil is too much to pay for a back-up right now.
It says max of 3mil. So probably depends on how much he plays.
Good point. Thanks.
You need more than four DE to compete. Nothing wrong with stockpiling DLINE.
CHAMPIONSHIP!
Worth the cost? Boy, that is something that is so hard for me to tell with a part time player like this. To be honest, I have no idea but this is where I’ll have to trust Heckert. Seems the risk is very low and I love d-line depth.
Really has everyone forgotten Hillis from last season the strepthroat or multiple injuries he was terrible not.the guy that was punishing the year before Hillis was a one year wonder the guy turned into a pre Madonna he had his chance this year to really make a name but.did he no let the soft candy ass go you guys act like he rushed for 1000+ this year
Good sign! You can never have too much depth on the D-Line and I would rather gamble on veteran depth than first year players.
Any relation to Frenchie Fuqua?
Why the hell are we wasting 3 mill on an old back up? This is why we are drafting in the top 10 every year! We waste money on a bunch of nobody players! No one wants to come to Cleveland. They never will. We trade down to draft a bunch of no body players – they start for us because anyone can for a 4 win team. Would you finally get some real players?
