NBA Injury News: Cavs’ Boobie Gibson Sustains Torn Tendon in Left Foot
March 27, 2012Box Score: Cavaliers 85, 76ers 103
March 27, 2012Though the team has come forward and declared Colt McCoy their starting quarterback for 2012, reports are circulating that Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill will be the subject of a workout in Berea.
Tannehill, the 6-foot-4-inch converted wide receiver, is considered by many to be a high-upside, project quarterback who happens to be relatively affluent in the west coast offense.
The Browns will reportedly also be represented at Tannehill’s Pro Day on Thursday, according to Browns coach Pat Shurmur, who wasn’t certain if that’s the one he’ll be attending that day. Tannehill, one of approximately five players the Browns are considering with their fourth-overall selection, is coming off surgery to repair a stress fracture in his right foot. He did not work out at the NFL Combine.

Against. Still need someone who can catch the ball before you worry about anyone throwing it.
This converted WR line is a bit misleading. He was a QB in high school. He was recruited to A&M as a QB, didn’t beat out the incumbent so the coaches switched him to WR because he was such a good athlete. He still attended all the QB meetings/film sessions while as a WR. He took over the QB spot during his junior season.
That said, he is still really raw and inexperienced. Put me in the skeptical camp.
Agree, somewhat. However, if Holmgen, Heckert, and Childress decide he’s the guy, who are we to tell them he isn’t? Those guys have forgotten more about QB’s than anyone commenting on this site will ever know……They’re too smart to panic and reach; they really are one of the smarter front offices in the NFL…..just give it time.
I am rubbing a rabbit’s foot hoping that this is all window dressing in an effort to cajole Miami into trading up. If it is, well played Browns, well played.
Hopefully a smoke screen. We want every team to think we could take anyone.
Shhhhh dont give it away!
What is this, Quarterback-gate?
Sorry, gentlemen, but the matter has been settled. I refer you to yesterday’s definitive WFNY post:
Shurmur: “We’re moving forward with Colt McCoy.”
Ergo, all further fog, smoke, mirrors, bushwah, and blog-spam on the subject are moot.
Capisce?
As I so eloquently wrote at the time, we already got us a QB who drives him a pickup, dadgumit. so what the hail else do ya want?
End.
Of.
Discussion.
Thank you. We now return you to our regularly scheduled bemoaning of the lack of free-agent signings.
It all depends on where we would take him. At 4, no. But at 22 or trading up from 22, that’s not a bad idea.
I do not like this one bit! Is Colt the QB of the future? no…but to tell me it’s Ryan Tannehill is ridiculous. I had to do a google search to figure out who the guy even was. I would take him in the 3rd round at the earliest. Way too many playmakers are needed on offense to waste a pick like this.
compare our FA signings with the rest of our division and it doesn’t look so bad
No offense but if you had to google him to find out who he was, how do you know what round he should be drafted in?
Yea but compare what they already had to what we had…
However stealing Frostie Rucker from the Bengals has the potential to radically change the power structure of the AFC North.
The guy who never heard of him wants to take him in the 3rd round. Some highly paid GM is going to take him in the top half of the first round. Hmm.
I’m okay with this if we trade down a little, like to the 6th or 7th round. This guy is awful. If we don’t want Matt Flynn or Kevin Kolb because they’re backups and are only successful because of the system they were in, what do you think Ryan Tannehill is? His stats weren’t really even that great.
There’s a draft value search engine chart I’ll link to later. Basically if no search is needed he’s a first rounder If you found him on Google generally has 2nd 3rd round potential, Ask.com is a high 4th. If you find a player on Dogpile he is projected at exactly the 138 pick. Yahoo search covers picks in the 5th (excepting that 138) 6th, and 7th. And the search engine most likely to find Mr. Irrelevant is Bing.
Jeez I hate having to explain this stuff to amateurs
it is all about the pick-up. Or at least the appearance of driving a pick-up. Can’t think of an effective wine swilling QB since Montana, and that was probably only under pressure from Walsh and Policy. Then Steve Young had to claim he was a Mormon just to avoid the wine tastings. Anyway, thanks for cutting to the heart of it: it’s a red state sport for red state guys.
Hate to say it but I think this will be your first draft pick in 2012.
