Cavs fall to Lakers, 97-92

So who are we rooting for… or against?
Our first game today is the New Orleans Saints at San Francisco 49ers. This is one of the more intriguing games of the weekend, a classic Offensive Team vs Defensive Team match-up. Drew Brees and the Saints have been pretty ridiculous lately but they haven’t had to face a defensive unit like the 49ers (and vice versa, the Niners haven’t faced an offense like this). I think I’m rooting for the Niners (they haven’t been relevant for a while) but I really don’t know. Sometimes I don’t pick a team until I see which team the announcers are pimping (and then go the other way, naturally).
Saturday night’s game is the Big One. Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos vs Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Again, I don’t have a team in this matchup. Thanks to my personal SportsCenter boycott (it started LeBron’s last season.. “Future Knick LeBron James and the Cavaliers in New York tonight…”), I don’t have as much Tebow-fatigue as others seem to. I don’t mind Tebow’s outspoken beliefs (I’m all for athletes, or anyone really, speaking their mind) but I’m more apathetic than moved by his play (but hey, thanks for beating Pittsburgh, that was fun). I fully expect Bill Belichick and the Patriots to win.
This is an open thread.

Jim Harbaugh…..and we have Pat Shurmur.
So…that’s what winning football is like.
Belichick just handed off to Aaron Hernandez… you know… a tight end? 🙂 See, it really was Alex Smith’s fault!
Jesus may love Tim Tebow; but Belichick made a deal with the devil the day he left Cleveland.
Patriots rout of the Broncos: engaged.
The other 3 games have a tough act to follow.
Clearly this game needs more Brady… Quinn !
It might be the only chance they have… Remember his 4 TD game against Detroit? http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200911220det.htm
I know it was well documented prior to the draft, I guess I never really paid attention to it before but Tebow’s release is THE UGLIEST I HAVE EVER SEEN.
PS – I am loving the high school “TEE- BOW” mocking chants from the Pats fans right now.
How could I forget ? NFL Films even did a special on the game… because of Stafford.
Anyone else catch Big Money sacking Tebow ? I’m amazed he’s not only in the NFL still but, on one of the better teams in the league.
Admitting I don’t know much about either team…but is Denver’s offensive line this bad, or is NE’s defensive front that good?
Because as I observed elsewhere…this game is pretty well demonstrating it doesn’t matter who the QB is if the OL is obliterated this much. Might be a Browns draft lesson there…
Caught that highlight followed by his “big chomp/I’m gonna eat 3 big macs for breakfast tomorrow” celebration.
Alternative draft lesson… do the Browns have a SINGLE passing threat that will make the catches that some of Brady is making here? Gronkowski alone is making this a blowout…
Good, now I don’t have to hear about Tim Tebow all week again…
I thought Evan Moore was going to be a lighter version of Gronkowski but Shurmur had other plans of signing him to a new deal as team “decoy”.
Stay classy Von Miller.
Anyone who watched and understands football sees just how far away the Browns are in reality. More talent is required but so is coaching that can adapt quickly.
I laugh watching the Patriots tight ends. If Evan Moore was there he’d be a star. Btw the Browns tried handing off to a TE, remember how well it worked for them?
I agree and disagree with you at the same time on this point.
Evidence being the Denver Tebows. Watching them at the beginning of the season you’d swear they were years away from a playoff run.
I think the piece that makes most negative skewed Browns fans feel so far away is the organizations refusal over the past two years to go hard after a dynamic playmaker and then use that playmaker correctly.
I am continually amazed at how the other teams in this league run plays in which their pass receivers are wide open. Why can’t we do this?
Let’s go Houston, beat the filthy Ratbirds.
I never realized before what an annoying announcer Phil Simms is. He’s the football version of Tim McCarver. He talks and talks and talks and doesn’t say anything insightful or interesting. It’s all BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH . . .
Gumbel and Dierdorf are SO F***ING BORING!! Make them go away!
Wow, Texans really blew their last possession Browns style! That was pathetic play-calling!
The Giants talked WAY too much trash to win this game, I expect GB to smash them.
@MrCleveland:disqus
Good call on Simms. Also, he acts like he knows everything and he’s always wrong.
On the Greg Jennings fumble (and that’s what it was). The referees in this league never cease to amaze me. Where do they get these guys!?
Ditto, Z. That hit-to-the head call on NY was ludicrous.
