The Cavaliers hung in there for a while in the first half. Then the Lakers pulled away. But before the seemingly inevitable rout was achieved, the Cavaliers showed remarkable composure on the road and fought their way back from 19 down to get within 3. Daniel Gibson had a good look from 3 to tie it, but it missed and the Lakers’ Matt Barnes leaked out to get an easy dunk in transition. The Cavaliers then turned the ball over on the following possession and the Lakers managed to hang on for the win.
Kyrie Irving had another strong game, scoring 21 points, but just couldn’t do quite enough to help his team overcome Kobe Bryant’s 42 point game. Anderson Varejao had a double double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. The Cavaliers may not want to hear about moral victories, but they showed a lot of spirit in making the Lakers earn this win.

Tired, sloppy and still in it at the end. Awful, awful, awful shooting, yet still in it at the end.
-checking in from LA.
