December 16, 2011Week 15: The Browns Will Win If…
December 16, 2011Congratulations to Charles, who won yesterday’s 12 Days contest. Charles won a Tribe prize pack including a copy of Pass the Nuts by Dan Coughlin.
Let’s get right to today’s giveaway. As always, here is the way the contest works-
Every weekday from now until Christmas Eve, we will give away a Cleveland themed prize. To enter, you need only to respond in the comment section in the appropriate manner. The winner each day will be randomly selected and notified by email. (Which means you better make sure that the email address you use to comment here is a legit one.) I cannot guarantee delivery by Christmas. Some of the prizes (like tickets) haven’t even been printed and mailed to us yet. We’ll do our best with the things we have in hand though. Only one member of a household can enter each day, and only one winner per household during the length of this contest. Just spreading the love around.
Today’s Prize–
We’re giving away another Cavaliers prize pack. This one includes a pair of tickets to see the Cavaliers play the Chicago Bulls. Always a fun match-up.
I know that’s worth playing for.
Today’s question–
The Cavs and Bulls have quite the history. Current Bull Joakim Noah famously noted there was nothing in Cleveland worth seeing or doing. If you were trying to impress a free agent, where would you take them to give them an idea of what Cleveland is all about?
Comments must be posted by midnight Cleveland time in order to qualify for the drawing. Check back tomorrow at noon for the results. Remember, only one entry is allowed, but you may still comment to add to the discussion.

I would definitely take him to a summertime Tribe game at Progressive Field…not many places I would rather be during the summer.
@Harv & JNeids – I’ve been planning on taken my best friend for his upcoming 40th. We’ve grown up amongst this city so we are no stranger to places of this character. How much $$$ should I bring to do it top of the line, and what is attire? You could reply or tweet at me at MuniStadium

I would definitely take them to one of the sporting events in town (whoever was playing) so that they could see the fan base they would be playing for.
Then I’d take them on a tour around the city, hitting the downtown landmarks (Rock Hall, Terminal Tower Observation Deck, Aquarium, Playhouse Square, etc..) Then over to the museums in University Circle.
If I had enough time, I’d also show them the Zoo, and take them through the Metroparks and end up back at the Lake.
I’d want them to see how many gems this city has to offer that SO many people forget!

I am not that familiar with the ins and outs of the city, but I think that the most meaningful time might be spent at a game or interacting with fans.

Definitely dollar dog night at Progressive Field. Nothing really like it.

Sokolowski’s for lunch, Rock Hall in the afternoon, Guarino’s on Murray Hill for dinner, then out to Christie’s if that’s their style.

I’d have to say out on the lake, Great Lakes Brewing Co., and a Browns game

To any sports bar full of die-hard Cleveland fans. I would also bring a win/loss record for the team they were going to join, and tell the free agent, “These are the people who are going to support you, even if you have a record as lousy as this. Can you say that about LA?”

West Side Market and Great Lakes Brewing Company, then a Cavs, Indians, or Browns game depending on what season it was.

I’d take them to the Muni Lot before a browns game. Then for dinner either XO or Melt depending on their personality.
I’d take that player nowhere. I’d sit him in front of the given building he will be playing in(or in case of bad weather inside a facility of some sort) and bring individual fans in to tell that player exactly what the city of Cleveland and winning a championship here means to them.
I’d bring in people because that’s what the city of Cleveland is really about. It’s a united group of people who love their teams no matter what. No bar, club, restaurant, or central location can speak to an athlete more than the people who will be watching them play. As dense as many athletes are, you hear from 100 people all sharing stories of family or past Cleveland team experiences and how bad they want to win, nobody in their right mind could say no and not feel guilt ridden over it.

I was in town this summer and downtown was alive with both an Indians game and Browns preseason game going on. I loved how I could walk to everything downtown and there were a ton of people out. I think this would truly show how much sports mean to the city and that the player could become an important figure for our city and fans.

I’d take them to Sushi Rock to hang out with Joe Haden and TJ Ward!
Next, I would take them to any of the towns across the country with the famous Browns Backers. The devotion around the nation would inspire. GO BROWNS!
If you were trying to impress a free agent, where would you take them to give them an idea of what Cleveland is all about?
Definitely Muni-Lot and/or downtown to the W-6th area prior to a Brown’s game. E-9th bars prior to a Tribe game. Same for a Cavs game.
We have plenty of “clubs” of both night and gentlemen’s variety if that’s their thing.
I’d also drive them 2 hours in any direction and show them that they are untouchable no matter where they go, provided they show us loyalty back.
