December 13, 2011Cavs Offbeat: Shooting Guards Providing Interesting Tidbits
December 13, 2011Congratulations to Joe in Wooster for winning yesterday’s contest and the Tribe prize pack. Strange, no votes for Chisenhall yesterday. A few for Andy Marte though.
In case you’re new to the contest, here’s how it works-
Every weekday from now until Christmas Eve, we will give away a Cleveland themed prize. To enter, you need only to respond in the comment section in the appropriate manner. The winner each day will be randomly selected and notified by email. (Which means you better make sure that the email address you use to comment here is a legit one.) I cannot guarantee delivery by Christmas. Some of the prizes (like tickets) haven’t even been printed and mailed to us yet. We’ll do our best with the things we have in hand though. Only one member of a household can enter each day, and only one winner per household during the length of this contest. Just spreading the love around.
Today’s Prize–
Today’s winner will get a Cavaliers prize pack, including a copy of Joe Tait: It’s Been a Real Ball by Terry Pluto and Joe Tait. (Thanks to Gray and Company Publishers.) As well as a pair of tickets to an upcoming Cavaliers game.
Worth playing for? Of course!
Today’s question–

I think we pull off 19 wins again even with a shortened season for a 19-44 record. This time our Cavalier in shining armor is none other than #1 pick Kyrie Irving as he dishes to the likes of Tristan, Varejao and Skyenga. Cant wait for Xmas.

The Cavs will win 22 games and Kyrie Irving will be the MVP and super fun to watch!

After James Harrison headbutts Irving in a steroid-filled bout of rage, giving him a lifelong concussion, the hopes of the Cavs will be diminished. Workhorse center Anderson Varejao will try to carry the team on his hair-covered back, but will suffer a career-ending injury when the Cavs visit Denver on March 7. There, he will be diving for a loose ball, only to run into John Elway. As with all things Cleveland, the mere presence of Elway will be enough to permanently end the Brazilian stallion’s career.
Final record: 7-59
MVP: Late season signee Dan Gilbert, as opposing teams refuse to play around him, giving the Cavs 7 victories via forfeiture.

I think they will have a similar win %, but the upside of Irving and Thompson will push them to about 18 wins this season. The team’s MVP is going to be Christian “Skyenga” Eyenga, because he is 2 inches taller and Casspi seems pretty injury prone already. He’s going to have more openings with the deliveries from Irving, and he’ll be able to defend better knowing he has Andy and Tristan behind him

Final record will be 18-48…not good, but will showcase a bright future with Kyrie, Tristan, and Omri. Team MVP will be Andy!!!!!

They will repeat at 19 wins and Irving will come on strong late to be the team MVP.
Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?
I think the Cavaliers win 22 games for a final record of 22-44. I’d say the team’s MVP will be Kyrie Irving, almost by default, just because I think he’s a natural fit in Byron Scott’s system.

The Cavs will go 21-45. The team MVP will be Antwan Jamison due to his departure from Cleveland via a post All Star Break trade to bring in young talent
Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?
23wins for a 10% win% improvement over last year.
Kyrie Irving will be team-MVP with 15pt 8ast 3rb 1.5st per game averages.
Bonus: AV and Gibson get traded away for more youth and draft picks. Noone wants to trade for Jamison.

19 wins with Anderson Varejao as the MVP.

I have to honestly believe that anything over 20 wins would be considered a good season, given the talent and lack of time together. That being said, I can see 25 wins, positive growth from Kyrie and Tristan, Varejao punching Lebron in the balony, and Omri Casspi as the team’s MVP.
Q: Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?
A: 21 wins and Kyrie Irving will be the team MVP. Most importantly, no 26 game losing streaks
Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?
20-46. The team’s MVP will be Ramon Sessions, who will not be dealt but will serve as a backup/mentor for Kyrie while putting up a respectable PPG avg.

I think the Cavs will win 23 games and the team MVP will be Anderson Varejao.
Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?
I’ll put them to 25. With everyone in the league dealing with a rather intense schedule, the Cavs will have some opportunities to steal some games they would otherwise have no business winning. The MVP should be Anderson Varejao if he stays healthy.
20-46 will be the Cavs record this season. While on paper it looks like another bad year, improvement in the games of Omri Caspi and Ramon Sessions will be obvious to even the casual viewer. While Vareajo, Caspi and Sessions all have big come back years, team MVP will go to the NBA Rookie of the Year #2 Kyrie Irving. Irving will thrill fans with his wide array of passes and a patented 15 foot spot up jumper that he’ll drain with ease off a step back. Irving will lead the team in points scored, and assists while sending a message to the league that he’s the first piece that’s in place to bring a ring to the city of Cleveland.
Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?
17 wins, with a much more competitive team. Kyrie Irving will be MVP but will not be the leader in scoring or rebounding.
Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?
22-44 Tristan Thompson. Averaging close to a double double he will be a fan favorite making Andy expendable

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?
The Cavs will have important games late in the season. Due to young athleticism and Byron Scott, they will win 28 games and ultimately fall short of playoff contention. They will be a brand new team that no one has seen before, thus have the ability to surprise some people, as long as Andy stays healthy. Derrick Williams scores more points and has worse players around him so no Kryie Irving ROY, but he will have a better career and see a lot of development. Team MVP is Irving.

Cavs win 20 this year for a 20-46 record, and whoever contributes the most to the losses will be our MVP, as his actions will result in a better draft pick. Lose to win, baby!

I’m going to have to say 20 wins for the Cavs. Varejao will be MVP of the team simply for playing hard every night for a team that will have a tough time competing in a majority of their games.

The Cavs will finish 32-34 this year, almost .500, and may even make the playoffs in the East (which beyond the top few, still isn’t great). The Cavs have young enough legs (especially if Baron gets amnestied, and I’m not ruling out an Antawn trade) that they’re going to have fewer “scheduled losses” than other teams; in a compressed season, the younger legs will give them more wins than they otherwise would get, because they’ll be less tired than some teams that may well rest a lot more guys.
