December 12, 2011A Look Ahead to the 2011-12 Cleveland Cavaliers
December 12, 2011Rolling right along, congratulations to lstavole13, who was Friday’s winner! He gets a pair of tickets to the Cavaliers’ opener on December 26th. Also, thanks again to CSF Radio for helping out with that contest.
New to the giveaway? Here’s how it works-
Every weekday from now until Christmas Eve, we will give away a Cleveland themed prize. To enter, you need only to respond in the comment section in the appropriate manner. The winner each day will be randomly selected and notified by email. (Which means you better make sure that the email address you use to comment here is a legit one.) I cannot guarantee delivery by Christmas. Some of the prizes (like tickets) haven’t even been printed and mailed to us yet. We’ll do our best with the things we have in hand though. Only one member of a household can enter each day, and only one winner per household during the length of this contest. Just spreading the love around.
Today’s winner will receive a Cleveland Indians prize pack, including a pair of tickets for a 2012 game, and a Wahoo! Baseball shirt from GV Art and Design.
Worth playing for? Of course it is.
Today’s Question:
(Remember, to correctly enter please restate the question and then answer it.) The Indians have been searching for the answer at third base for a long time. Which Tribe third baseman is the best you ever saw play the position?
Comments must be posted by midnight Cleveland time in order to qualify for the drawing. Check back tomorrow at noon for the results. Remember, only one entry is allowed, but you may still comment to add to the discussion.

Q: Which Tribe third baseman is the best you ever saw play the position?
A: The best I saw in person on a regular basis was Buddy Bell.
I didn’t live in Cleveland during the “recent” glory years and perhaps I am taking this question a little too literally, but Buddy Bell and Mike Hargrove were my favorite tribe players when I was a kid. As a matter of fact, the first big league homer I ever saw in person was hit by Buddy Bell.

While those days are pretty hazy considering how young I was back then, it is a better option than Andy Marte…

Having been an Indian fan since 2011 and a baseball fan since the 2010 playoffs…I’d have to say Hannahan

I’ve only been in town since ’97, so Travis Fryman.
Which Tribe third basemen is the best you ever saw play the position?
Tough one. Many have been mentioned, but I’m surprised no one’s mentioned Jason Donald, who can also man the middle infield. JD also hits rightie and should be looked at not only for the OF but 1B as well, possibly catcher as well. Donald for super utility player!

I saw Jack Hannahan play this past summer. He is so effortless out there. Greatest fielder…
Which Tribe third baseman is the best you ever saw play the position?
I’d have to say Travis Fryman. I think he had an even better glove than Hannahan and wasn’t a liability at the plate either.
Here’s hoping that in 5+ years my answer to this question will automatically be the Chiz Kid.

He was a quiet leader. He could hit for average, drive in runs, had a little power, and had a great glove. He was extremely under rated.

Craig Nettles. Followed by Buddy Bell.
