Nice Story or Nightmare? – Eric Hagg Could Debut as Starter Sunday
November 11, 2011Week 10: The Browns Will Win If…
November 11, 2011Many folks were quick to link Cleveland Browns front office comrade Jon Sandusky to the sad, complex and still-developing scandal which has unfolded in Happy Valley. Though the football program is secondary to what has occurred at Linebacker U., up-and-coming Browns first-year wide receiver Jordan Norwood recently spoke of the issues that have recently come down upon his alma mater.
“I was certainly shocked,” Norwood told The Plain Dealer Wednesday. “Above everything else, my heart goes out to the young men, the young boys and the families that were affected.”
Norwood was at Penn State between 2005 and 2008. His father, Brian, was on the Nittany Lions coaching staff between 2001 and 2007, a span in which the alleged incident in 2002 occurred. Norwood is in the midst of his best season since leaving Penn State, hauling in eight balls for 63 yards thus far in 2011.
Catching five passes for 32 yards in the loss against the San Francisco 49ers, Norwood passed former second-round receiver Brian Robiskie, who was later released by the team as the Browns were in dire need of depth at running back following the injuries sustained by Peyton Hillis and Montario Hardesty.
He will likely get a chance to replicate his outing against the Niners this Sunday as the Browns host the St. Louis Rams with receiver Mohammed Massaquoi being sent home multiple times over the past week with symptoms stemming from a recent concussion.
Despite all of the ties that continue to point back to the field of play, Norwood – who insists he is focused on this Sunday’s game – appeared to not let these variables cloud the issues that remain at the forefront.
“There’s no doubt [it’s hard on the entire Penn State family],” he said. “It’s tough and unfortunate — more so for the young men and young boys that were involved.”

can we talk about Veteran’s Day and how Dan Gilbert (through Quicken Loans) is sponsoring today’s Carrier Classic between Michigan State and UNC?
we could even get the MSU journalism students back on here for old times sake.

this story just keeps getting worse. i hope it will have a turn where things at least settle, but the more time that has gone on the more details have come out to make a seemingly lowest of the low story get lower.
We’re playing the St. Louis Cardinals this weekend? YES… easy win! 🙂
@VP – i don’t know about that. never underestimate the power of Pujols or LaRussa’s managerial skills. I heard Carpenter can throw a football through the goalposts from the 50yd line on his knees too.
Oy. Good catch, Pat. Not sure what I was thinking there but it may or may not have been wishful.
Our defense will shut them down as long as Neil Lomax doesn’t go wild.
I’m with you Scott… I’m not thrilled about the Rams’ new-found ability to play football.
