Browns Reportedly Reach Agreement with Safety Usama Young
July 28, 2011While We’re Waiting… Fukudome, More to Come From Tribe, and NFL Free Agents
July 29, 2011The Browns still haven’t made a giant splash in free agency, but they have added some very important running back depth. Adam Schefter tweets that the Browns have signed Jackson to a 2-year deal worth $4.5 million. That isn’t a lot of money for a 25-year old running back who had over 1000 yards between running and receiving last season with the Packers as he filled in for the injured Ryan Grant.
So, the Browns now have Brandon Jackson to go along with Peyton Hillis, Montario Hardesty, Owen Marecic, and Mike Bell. Regardless of Hardesty’s health, it is good to have options at running back. It never seems like you can have enough in the NFL, especially with a Madden Curse hanging over your head.***
Now, if you would like to see a meaningless highlight of Brandon Jackson running behind an army of blockers, here you go.
*** I don’t really believe in curses.

His WCO experience from GB is a plus for Colt in camp and early in the season until others get more acclimated to it. Until Hardesty proves his himself, you have to peg Jackson now as the #2 RB. My guess is they cut Bell loose.
Having two RB’s with good hands like Hillis and Jackson in the backfield at the same time would help a bit to make up for weaker WR’s will give Colt a nice plan B or C when routes and the pocket implode.
That clip is a top 10 play of all time
I believe Mike Bell is a UFA… and I dont believe he is being brought back.
Mike Bell, an option at RB? Ha!
this is fine. i hope it’s not an indicator of hardesty’s recovery progress.
and, as always, i will miss lawrence vickers.
I disappointed about losing Wright. He had a bad year last year, but previous to that he looked like he was on the verge of something. Now we have to go get another CB cause Haden/Brown/Adams doesnt cut it.
They def need to get out there and spend some money on a corner now. I can deal with this. Not sexy but he’s a wayyyyy better option than mike “concrete shoes” bell.
I think Wright deserved a chance to redeem himself here. They could have always cut him later if it didn’t work out.
Don’t underestimate that highlight too much just because Jackson had a wall of blockers in front of him. Plenty of players don’t know how to read their blocks and still run into a tackle – think Derek Anderson repeatedly turning into a defensive player for the sack.
Not sure Jackson will be able to negotiate the rights to wear Number 32 with JB.
