While We’re Waiting: Zone Blocking, End of an Era?, Footy Fun, and Burnin’ Stones
June 26, 2010Is this our Armageddon?
June 26, 2010The Indians opened a weekend series in Cincinnati last night, and came away losing the 9th of their last 10. While managing 9 hits, the Tribe only managed to produce 3 runs which come off of home runs from Carlos Santana (2-run) and Jhonny Peralta.
Pitching-wise, the Aaron Laffy got hit early and often by the Reds. Laffey went 4 innings, giving up 5 runs. Reliever Joe Smith did the team no favors, giving up 4 more runs in 2 innings of work. In a sharp contrast, Cincy starter Aaron Harang went 7 innings, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits.
The Indians’ lack of pitching continues to haunt the team. The lack of defense (two more errors makes 55 – league champs in errors!) also contributed to last night’s loss, as Jon foreshadowed yesterday.
One noteworthy note worth noting from the game: after his home run, Carlos Santana left the game in the fifth inning with what was tentatively called a bruised thumb. X-rays were negative and Santana is expected to play this evening.

I like calling him “The Aaron Laffey”, and I hope you did that on purpose.
I would like to personally thank Mark Shapiro for trading Casey Blake for Carlos Santana.
I’d like to personaly say screw you to Mark Shapiro for trading Cliff Lee, CC Sabathia and Victor Martinez for nothing.
Go Indians!
