The Browns Will Win If…
December 18, 200912 Days of a Cleveland Christmas: Day 10
December 18, 2009Sometimes things get a little strange at the workplace. A little awkward. An employee working out a two-week notice is usually good for some awkward moments. Waiting to hear which employees get laid off would be another. Somewhere sandwiched in there would be the day that Cris Carter had recently.
Try to put yourself in his position. You work as an analyst for ESPN, which of course has hours and hours of programming time to fill, and of course positions itself to try and break every major story. One such story, though certainly not major, made the rounds the other day and had to cause a few tense moments. Ohio State WR Duron Carter was ruled ineligible for the Rose Bowl. Oh, sorry dad. That might make things a bit strange for you huh?
Carter is the Buckeyes’ fourth wide out, and the freshman’s production shouldn’t be too hard to replace. I’m not saying that Carter won’t be a good receiver for the Buckeyes, just that he isn’t a vital part of the offense right now. For the season Carter has 13 receptions for 176 yards. That’s an average of 1 catch and 14 yards per game.
The Buckeyes could potentially lose Rob Rose from the defense, but that hasn’t been confirmed by the university as of yet. There is a chance that Rose is going through the appeals process. As for Carter, looks like he’ll have plenty of time for his favorite hobby- twitter.

This is a shame for Duron Carter. It’s his own fault, granted, but the Rose Bowl, the Grandaddy Of Them All, is a very special deal. tOSU hasn’t been there since ’97, and before that it was ’85*, so it’s basically a once-a-college-career thing. (I know it’s possible for them to go back next year, but it’s very unlikely odds.) Maybe now he’ll focus on staying eligible because I think he’s going to be an impact player for tOSU in the coming years.
Awkward Moment in WFNY History: Not spelling Cris Carter’s name correctly.
Man, I should just go home today. Thanks brad.
