Watching the Eagles vs. the Giants today made me realize just how much I despise the Fox Sports Robot. The robot looks like a metallic football player and when it isn’t monotonously jumping up and down in the corner of the screen, it is doing (wait for it…) the electric slide. I don’t know what is more criminal. Is it the fact that the stupid robot won’t stop doing awful wedding dances, or is it the fact that I can recognize the dance from my experiences in organized dances as a 7th grader?
In my research for this post (yes, I did research this) I discovered that there are a lot of people out there that hate the Fox Sports robot as much as I do. In fact, much was made of the TV promos for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles where the Terminator and the Fox Sports Robot duke it out on the TV screen.
Anyway, it made me very happy that the Browns are an AFC team and hardly ever have to play on Fox. Now, if we could just remove Phil Simms’ “Phil-osophy” and Randy Cross’ “Cross Talk” keys to the game segments, I would be completely happy that the Browns are on CBS instead. A boy can dream, can’t he?

At least with CBS, we get to hear “Hello, friends” every game that Nantz calls.
Also, Joe Buck doesn’t work for CBS.
Not to mention if you live out of Ohio, the only games that come on FOX are the freakin Cowboys. I swear every game was on down here this season.
I thought FOX’s giant, fake skyscraper they would show during aerial shots of the college bowl games was pretty lame as well.
Now, on this issue you are 100% right! I don’t know why I have such antipathy towards that robot — I just wish it would go away, but it keeps coming back every year, adding nothing to our lives, serving only to sow irrational anger across tthis great nation
Even Scooter the talking baseball thinks that the robot sucks.
ha. i have been hating on the robot for years (and i love robots..who doesn’t?). Me and my buddies were literally saying the same exact thing today. i read them your post and they got a great laugh out of it.
Now if only we could make it into the playoffs to actually watch our own team. I would even be willing to deal with the robot if it meant we were in the game.
the is nothing to like about Fox- Watch Fox News one day and tell me if you feel like living in America after hours of watching it. They make it sound as if there is no reason to live, we will all die sooner than we know it by a terrorist, kidnapper, bankruptcy, or liberals. And the best part about it is they have so much influence in our country, and they are owned by an Australian
Nice to see someone bring this up. It’s bothered me for a long time too. I also hate Fox’s fake Jumbotron that they show coming out of some timeouts.

Two or three weeks ago, Burger King sponsored the halftime show and at one point, the Burger King King ripped off the stupid robot’s head and placed it on top of a snowman. I thought that was pretty rad. Unfortunately, when the commercial break was over the head was back on. By far the worst thing on TV. The new Knight Rider thinks it sucks.
Awhile back foxsports.com was selling action figures of this robot for something absurd like $25. My buddies told me they were gonna buy me that and an M-80 so I could blow it up. I told them I was pissed that they didn’t. I hate that damn robot.
If Fox was shooting to entertain 7 year olds then the robot works ( my son likes him). Otherwise, it’s lame.
If The Seaward blows up the robot can we throw in Troy Aikman as well? I might pay to watch that.
I love Fox Sports coverage. No Dan Marino, Shannon Sharp, and Boomer Esiason in pregame is great. No Jim Nantz or Phil Simms during games. When I live near Houston, I saw mostly CBS coverage of the Texans and it was horrible. Give me Moose and Kenny Albert over CBS. I love the robot fighting the Burger King or celebrating holidays.
Just be thankful you don’t live in Los Angeles where we get a steady diet of Raiders vs. Chiefs match ups. The west coast version of Browns vs. Bengals.
What about the Robo-Turkey on Thanksgiving? Like anyone wants to eat that guys. You can’t chew metal, people!
I personally prefer Fox too, notwithstanding the stupid robot. CBS takes way more commercials and their announcers are awful (except Gus Johnson who always gets buried in some meaningless game). Then again, Fox has Joe Buck…
Fox has a knack for creating un-needed and useless mascots for sports. The NFL robot, the MLB baseball guy (I think that was FOX), and the little groundhog (Digger is his name, brilliant by the way) for NASCAR. How about you focuse on the game, or event, and quit with the annoying mascots. Oh, and if you could find it in your heart to fire Terry Bradshaw, I would greatly appriciate it.
Why is the robot always warming up? It doesn’t have muscles, therefore warming up is unnecessary.
