Wes Hodges Tears Up Arizona Fall League
November 24, 2008Now We Root For USC? Oregon?
November 24, 2008The Plain Dealer took a chance to discuss Braylon Edwards’ string of simply awful games this season. Surprisingly, Edwards did not ignore the media after the game this weekend. He touched on the fact that he is a completey different player than last season – something I think we could all agree on. But what he said in his interview caught my eye.
“I was having the training camp of my life,” Edwards said. “You can ask anybody on the team: I was head-and-shoulders above where I was last year. I was totally prepared for the season.
“Whatever happened after the ankle surgery, I’ve gone the opposite way. I’ve gone the opposite way and played the game of catch-up. I have a good game and come back with a bad game. I have a good quarter, then a bad quarter.”
Wait, back up a second. Ankle surgery? I thought that we had a sliced open heel thanks to running sprints barefoot – an issue that took a few stitches to repair. The Browns were quick to comment on Edwards’ words, as something that “as far as the team knows,” there was no surgery. But why would the wide receiver go as far to say “ankle surgery” when said operation never took place?
Could this be why Edwards continues to come out of his turns at half speed? Why opposing defensive backs are cutting in front of him at ease to disrupt passes? Whatever it is, it is quite the freudian slip by a former Pro Bowl wide receiver. Such a slip that is causing me to have an even further distrust for the front office of this franchise – something that is pretty difficult to achieve at this point.
Which leads me to believe something worth mentioning: Romeo Crennel has yet to show up to Berea, where he was slated to hold his typical press conference at 11:45 AM. Will update as needed.
(Update: Crennel is now scheduled to speak at 12:35 PM, players are available now. Reportedly, there was a “meeting” that went longer than expected.)

Has yet to show up? Maybe he’s finally getting the axe! We can only hope..
Of course the first Browns jersey I ever purchase is Edwards’ #17. To be fair, I bought it last year when he was tearing up the league. It’s been a curse ever since.
He should’ve blamed it on broken thumbs since a bad ankle doesn’t explain why he can’t catch with HIS HANDS.
Maybe there was a long line at the buffet at Ponderosa and Romeo is just running late from lunch.
The drama on this team is worse than what you find on Days of Our Lives
Focus
is what Braylon needs.
The Browns are sending Braylon Edwards to New York for New Years Eve. He is the one that’s going to drop the ball 😀
seth: haha! nice
did anyone happen to catch romeo’s press conference on wknr? i was emailed by a friend and told to go to my car and listen, but i must not have read the email until way after cause when i got to my car, it was some national crap show. the only information i’ve found has been that Quinn is still the starter. is that all that the press conference covered or did the conference just not happen yet? i find it hard to believe that people would be making that big a deal out of it if it was just to say Quinn is still the starter. i think it was safe to assume he was still the starter since DA looked worse than he ever has. anyways, i’m PRAYING that this press conference, is/was about Romeo getting canned and Savage walking out the door (and the name on that door is Cleveland).
So I didn’t see an angle where Braylon dropped that ball in the pic there (between his legs). Could anyone see it hit the ground?
Not that would have made any difference in our grade of his performance or the outcome of the game, but I thought it odd he didn’t jump up and ask Romeo to throw the flag. It must have been obvious, but I just didn’t see it.
