Getting To Know Mo…
October 1, 2008So…We’re Not Alone With DB Woes
October 1, 2008In talking to a few of my closer friends, not many are feeling too good about this weekend’s game against Wisconsin. Not that we can blame them much, as we did have a poll not all that long ago that listed this upcoming game as one of the toughest on our schedule.
Plus, after this past week, we all know what can happen on the road in college football. Couple this with the fact that none of the current Buckeye team has ever played in Madison, and we have ourselves one heck of a battle coming up at 8 PM this Saturday.
The last time Ohio State played in Wisconsin, the result was a seven-point loss while we were the then-ranked number three team in the nation. The Badgers have lost one game at home over the past three-plus seasons. We’ll likely run a game preview later this week, but should these facts discussed above (as well as the remainder of Doug Lesmerises’ piece) be of large concern, or are we over thinking the whole home-field issue?
After the jump is one of my favorite pictures from last season.
Now, we just need to replicate this on the road…

I don’t think we can over think the home-field advantage Wisconsin will have. Camp Randall is loud, angry and hate filled. Talking to someone who has seen the Bucks in ann arbor, State College and Madison, he said the UW fans were the worst. I was at the Penn State game last year, and watched fans get pelted with beers (not just cans, actual full beer cans) and the band wasn’t allowed to attend the game because they were hit with blood, urine and feces bombs their previous trip. That is tough to top.
I do have hope as the Minnesota game was not nearly as close as the score indicated and we played a lot of guys on Saturday. I thought Pryor played the best of anyone at USC but we will see how he does being the starter this time. Also it’ll be interesting to see how much Beanie has in the tank, a few times he came off and looked like he was in a lot of pain.
Also, I can’t imagine the Badgers being real happy after the way they blew the game to SCum last week either.
And even with all that being said, I still think we have a very good chance to win. If we can control the clock and not give the ball away, I think we can by 10-14. If we start turning the ball over and the defense isn’t getting it right back for us, we could be in for a long Saturday night.
LETS GO BUCKS!!!
As an outside observer, I’d be more worried that the then-ranked-#9 team got embarrassed last weekend on ABC, and is probably looking for a little redemption.
As long as Robert Reynolds doesn’t choke anyone, it’ll be a step up from the last trip to badgerbadgerbadger.
“they were hit with blood, urine and feces bombs”
damn. now THAT is spirit.
This is going to be a brutal test and I doubt the Bucks will win. It’s a bad combo of a solid program, tough envirionment, recently humilitated opponent and a OSU team looking to get momentem.
The 2004 Bucks team was absurdly loaded and calm under pressure, and they melted down up there… A Buckeyes win would be a FANTASTIC achievement….
Hey Michigan just beat them!!! Anything they can do we can do better.
Um you all think camp randall is tougher than the coliseum? I don’t! Yea we got smoked by usc but no road test harder than that. Oh yea also it doesn’t matter if wisconsin got embarrassed last week. We got embarrassed in two straight championship games and still got ran over by usc. Talent wins games and wisconsin ain’t got much. If ya lose to michigan this year i lose all respect for your program. Pryor makes me happy talking bout how he is tired of everybody talking down on the buckeye’s. Ya’ll need to understand wisconsin plays big ten football not spread it out like penitentiary state or illinois. We gonna smoke em!
@ Victory: The Coliseum is tougher than Camp Randall: False.
Road tests at Bama, PSU, Oregon, Florida are all tougher than at SC.
Unless you’re talking about the area around the stadiums, in which case you are correct.
“Talent wins games” – You really want to make that argument? 2002 national championship game – you think OSU had more talent than Miami?
I think the Buckeyes will win, but by no more than a TD. Probably by 4.
Also, please write in english, I had to think too hard to read what you wrote.
If you can’t read what i say then you need to diverse yourself. Talent wins games if everybody is focused. You think miami wasn’t thinking to themself “we gonna blow them out”? Just like usc was focused when they blew us out and then went on to lose to oregon state the next week. Penn state is tough at night when they have the white out but besides that no. We will win by two touchdowns or more. Bet on it
Guys, you have me believing they can win again. I was very happy w/ my low expectations but Jim Tressel has more currency w/ me to have me think they can do it….
