Rose Bowl, Anyone?
October 29, 2008Your Move, Beanie Wells
October 29, 2008Though not far-fetched by any means, ESPN and WTAM are reporting that Browns wide receiver Joe Jurevicius is done for the remainder of the 2008 season. Jurevicius is eligible to come off of the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, but will reportedly be placed on the Injured Reserve, ending not only his season, but likely his career.
I’m willing to bet that Jurevicius did not have this in mind when he wanted to end his career with the Browns. While this obviously is disappointing news for the Browns’ season, it’s even worse news for a 10-year veteran who also happened to be a fan favorite.

That blows. JJ is the best! He is and will be sorely missed.
This is a total bummer. I will miss the clutch catches followed by the “FIRST DOWN!!!” arm gesture. Joe is truly one of the game’s class acts, and if this is indeed the end of his road, it is sad.
Maybe Phil Savage will send Romeo out to tell us that JJ agreed to keep his staph recovery quiet?
The real question is will Phil call JJ and wish him luck or just send him an email from his Blackberry?
Awful, I guess my days of taunting my madden opponents by singing a JJ remix of Fergalicious (“He’s Jurevicius, he’s hot hot, Jurevicius, i put those routes on hot hot….”). Plus he clutch on the real field. Gonna miss his big first down grabs and acrobatic TDs that he tips to himself.
Big disappointment. Loved the way he played. Hopefully he gets healthy enough to enjoy his retirement.
A quality 3rd receiver is now higher on the list of offseason moves, with this and K2 probably being gone, we’re going to need more threats than steptoe can provide.
Sadly once I heard he had staph, I wrote him off for the season months ago. If you have that WFNY attitude, this can’t be a shock.
its official, the philly/cleveland most tortured sports city argument is over….
any other contenders???
@ashevillain
Philly, really? Didn’t they JUST win the World Series? I’d say that takes them off the list.
Chuck? That was kinda the point? I heard something on BSPN about how they had gone ‘Over a 100 combined sports seasons without a title’. Boo-Friggen-hoo.
Sorry to hear this about Joe, but I think Bridge has something right, you already know how things turn out around here, no matter how you wish they wouldn’t.
For what it’s worth, I think all the Philly love is because they have 4 sports teams. I guess they are the most tortured city with 4 major sports.
Cleveland’s profound ability to fail miserably has to outweigh the Flyers in this argument though.
especially now that philly won the series….
they are still partying im sure…. this is one great thing about being a browns fan and a cleveland fan in general … high risk/high reward…. when they finally do pull it off its going to be so much sweeter… will probably set world records for “most people weeping like babies” in one city at one time, excluding natural disasters and wars and such… might even beat a handful of those….
Sorry, lack of sleep is catching up to me and taking away my ability to read…not sure what is next…might have to do something drastic like try to get more sleep…my apologies to ashevillain, and everyone else.
I knew Joe wasn’t going to be able to play this year. Too much damage to that knee. I think we all recognize the impact his loss has had on DA.
Buffalo is the only city that comes close, but they only have 2 teams (lost the Braves NBA team in the 70’s, though).
