Central Division Preview
October 28, 2008The 5-Hole, CBJ News and Notes – 10/28/08
October 28, 2008Sure, Cleveland lost by nearly three scores during the last meeting against the Baltimore Ravens. However, the fact that they have rolled off three wins (and one game that we all want to forget) since then has made Las Vegas a believer! That’s right, folks.
As the Ravens head to Cleveland this Sunday, they will be one and a half point underdogs against the Browns. Which means one thing: The Browns are favorites.
Sure, if the game was in Baltimore, or even a neutral field, the line would be a bit different. But if my memory is correct, this is the absolute first time that the Browns have been favored all season long – including Cincinnati on week four (CIN – 3.5). Just think. A team that many had selected to do very well this season has not been favored to win a game until week eight.
Another note of interest is that the over/under for this game is 36.5, the lowest of any game this week. In fact, the only other game that is in the thirties is the Monday night game between the Steelers and the Redskins (37).
So, what do you think? Is Vegas giving the Browns too much credit here? Yes, they’ve won three of their last four games, but they have also lost four of their last seven.

I would love to see the Browns pummel Baltimore. I really hope they show up for this one, because I can’t stand Ray Lewis. However, I think DA’s loins turn to water at the mention of the Raven defense, so I’m not getting my hopes up. What else is new?
I wanna see Alex Hall bury Flacco 2 feet into the stadium turf. I can live vicariously for that.
This time, we will finish the job and yank out McGahee’s out entirely!
you mean McGahee’s endtrails?
I shudder at the thought of this team being favored. Seems every time they collectively think they’re any good, they promptly go out and drop a deuce the following weekend. Knowing they’re favored only feeds that idea.
Baltimore is considering running Smith and Flacco this week.
DA is sure to ruin this game for us
No, DA already had his bad game against Baltimore. He’ll be good in this game and then screw up the Cincy game later this season since we won that game (in spite of him, but still).
I stumbled here because the story showed up on my Ravens stories Yardbarker widget. I’m not surprised that the Browns are favored, even considering the purple pummeling they received in week 3. The Ravens just broke their 7-game road losing streak in Miami, then (ho hum) beat the Raiders at home. Let’s just hope the game is more interesting than that snorefest in Washington (or, Landover) a few weeks back.
I’ll say……Ravens 17 Browns 16.
Cheers, Clevelanders.
Jamal Lewis seems to turn it up against his old team, and since he’s doing pretty damn well pre-turning it up, I’d expect him to rack up at least 100 yards. In fact, I’ll predict that and 2 touchdowns for him. And a Browns victory by at least 13 points.
I am with DP here. Browns are favored, so they will probably lose. I wish Vegas would reverse it, they would think no one expects them to win, especially since they already lost to the Ravens, and then come out and play inspired. I am worried DA craps his pants on this one though.
there is no doubt in my mind that we are winning this game. book it.
31-6, browns.
Pretty bold, LaundroMat, considering the Ravens have now gone 26 consecutive games without allowing a 100-yard rusher.
I would really like to see the Browns win, yet at the same time, I am kinda rooting against them because I want DA to be benched. Also, I would love to see RAC get his tubby a** fired. Trust me, I love the Browns with all my heart but DA and RAC have to go.
The tiebreaker this week in my point-spread-football-pick’em is “Jamal Lewis’ rushing total”
I picked 72. As our Baltimorian commenter has pointed out, 100 yards isn’t easy to do against that defense. Especially with Ray Lewis
murderingtackling people on what seems like every play. That guy has to retire soon, right?
this should be another good one !
Ravens 27 browns 13, We have not allowed a 100 yard rusher in 26 straight games, and I do not expect us to give that honor to our former washed up running back. He will keep doing those little petty footsteps he always does and fall to our linebackers, like he always does. Look for my article discussing what the ravens need to do in order to win this game, should be on your site soon.
