(Just kidding)
From the Indians Media Relations:
CLEVELAND, OH—The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has completed a trade with the Boston Red Sox, sending RHP PAUL BYRD to Boston in exchange for a player to be named or cash. The player to be named must be agreed upon on or before January 15, 2009.
Byrd made 22 starts with the Indians this year going 7-10 with a 4.53 ERA (131.0IP, 146H, 70R/66ER, 24BB, 56K, 23HR).
The Indians will not make a move today to replace Byrd on their active 25-man roster. The club’s 40-man roster now stands at 39. The Indians are now undecided for the start on Thursday, August 14 vs. Baltimore.
Somewhat ironic given how the whole HGH thing when down while we were playing the Red Sox. I can’t say that we didn’t see this coming, and it will be somewhat of a bummer given the last few seasons of what Byrd gave us. The year 2008 will go down as the year the Tribe went from contenders to sellers, but I won’t judge our moves until next season rolls around. Of course, it always helps when we find out who exactly that PTBNL will really be.
His season numbers are a bit skewed by that awful stretch. But if Byrd can do anything near what he’s done for the Tribe over the last month or so, the Sox added a solid end-of-rotation arm as they gear up for a run at the postseason.
Obviously, we can always revisit adding Byrd back to the Indians come next season, but that’s a different discussion for a different day.

I hope Boston’s porn shops are open for business!
Boston eh? Welp, seeya later
time for Byrd to become a superstar….
I’m actually kind of proud of the Indians, they traded every valuable piece on this team that was not going to be back next year. Even if all we get is cash, Byrd wasn’t coming back next year and now we get Laffey back into the rotation to see if he fixed what w/e was bothering him
