Congratulations, This Dude
July 8, 2008You Are The GM…..For Ryan Garko
July 8, 2008Eugene Clifford is the 6’2″ defensive back that is likely most known for his suspension during last year’s national championship game against the LSU Tigers. And while he likely wouldn’t have been the deciding factor, he was in fact the only five-star recruit (per Scout.com) of the Ohio State 2007 class. Alas, it looks like there is a decent chance that the Buckeyes will soon be down to “zero” five-star guys from said recruiting class as Clifford is in trouble yet again.
Eugene Clifford, a backup cornerback for Ohio State and former Colerain High School football standout, is facing assault charges after allegedly punching two men in the face.
According to police, Clifford hit two Holy Grail employees who were trying to break up a fight early Friday at the Corryville tavern. No further information about the brawl was available.
A former high school All-American and Cincinnati Enquirer Player of the Year, Clifford is building quite the rap sheet. The 20-year old missed the abovementioned championship with what is being touted as a positive drug test, and was also forced to miss April’s “Jersey Scrimmage,” – which is a very big deal in Columbus – due to an unspecified violation.
Two other defensive backs (Donald Washington and Jamario O’Neal) are also facing potential discipline due to the Jersey Scrimmage incident.
Clifford was reportedly projected to be the fourth safety for this season and has sky high potential. I would just hate to see him have to realize said value on another team.
Stay tuned.

I was nervous when I saw the title of this one. Also making the rounds is a story about Buckeye All-Americans Malcolm Jenkins and James Laurinaitis partying a little too much at the Playboy Mansion. Jenkins was apparently photographed throwing up in a straw hat. Great.
Uh oh. Who the hell drinks too much and throws up in strange objects while in college?!?!?!???? 🙂
This guy does! Is it bad to party too hard at the Playboy Mansion? I say no. But the situation as a whole doesn’t sound to good for the Buckeyes. Tressel may need to clamp down on these guys.
It’s one guy. Clifford is an idiot who can’t stay away from friends who keep getting him in trouble. This isn’t an institution-wide problem, it’s just one bad egg, who is going to be dealt with.
He’s no Ryan Parrilloux…
With as many guys on a football team as there are, there is bound to be a trouble maker or 2. It only gets inflated b/c it’s The Ohio State University. If this happens in a school not in the top 10, no one hears of it. Clifford made some dumb decisions and probably is going to go the D2 route so he can play right away, similar to Henton (albeit for different reasons)
