A Quick Response…

White Sox 9, Indians 7 (box)
Is the coast clear? I hate to be that guy to stear us off of the whole Lebron/NJ debate, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to talk more Tribe. Yep, the same team that is now over 10 games out of first place with the half-way point in the rear view. The same slew of guys that is embarking on an eight-game stint against divisional opponents. Needless to say, they didn’t capitalize last night.
But they never really had a chance.
It’s to the point where I would prefer to just trot out a four-man rotation. Jeremy Sowers (0-4, 7.53 ERA) only lasted three innings. It wouldn’t have been so bad had he not given up eight runs during that time. Eight. All earned; just one fewer than the number of men he was able to retire.
Not good.
The White Sox only had nine hits in the game. It just so happened that three of them were of the fence-clearing type. And of course, one was by James Howard Thome; his sixth home run against us this year.
Also, not good.
Fausto Carmona – who should be entertaining a few bullpen session in the near future – cannot return quick enough. But hey, at least Cliff Lee is pitching today. At least that gives us something to look forward to.
Okay, sorry for the interruption. Get back to commenting over here!

What sort of team is it when we can’t wait for Cliff Lee to snap a losing streak? And also when Cliff Lee could be the starter at the All-Star game?
A bad team with a great pitcher.
