Congratulations Mike Brown! You Just Cost Your Team a Game…

Apparently, the Cleveland Indians also played a game last night, which in hindsight is a shame given the fact that the team played extremely well while most attention was turned to the Cavs, who decided that they’d rather miss 15 layups in a playoff game.
Also apparent, Cliff Lee is human. Coming into this game with an amazing resume of year-to-date numbers, Lee actually took his scoreless streak to 27 innings before allowing three runs in the top of the seventh. Despite allowing eight hits and three earned runs, Lee’s ERA still stands at 0.96. The lefty struck out three, and walked none, taking that ratio to 32:2 over 37.2 innings pitched. Not bad for an “off” game, eh?
It may be a coincidence, or it may not. But with Kelly Shoppach catching for Lee, Eric Wedge gave Travis Hafner the night off and played Ryan Garko at the DH slot. Garko responded with more runs scored (2) than at-bats (1), thought not recording a hit. It should be noted that he has one hit since April 13th. Given the fact that he’s the one that got to play at Hafner’s expense, you know things are bad between these two would-be sluggers.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Jensen Lewis throwing two hitless innings, striking out one. It’s his first appearance without a hit since April 17th, and he only face one batter in that one. His WHIP stands at 1.59 on the year.
An absolute huge game from Grady Sizemore, who looks to be fully recovered from the ankle tweaking of a few nights ago. Sizemore went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run, walked twice and scored twice.
Not huge? Asdrubal Cabrera in the nine-hole, going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. He’s now batting .200 on the dot. We can officially add in the second base slot with the current left field issues. Assuming you hadn’t already.

So Asdrubal was so much better than Barfield…what happened? Is it time to give Barfield another shot?
